Best First Mods?

Hey Everyone,
Of course being on here has me wanting to buy about a million things to add to my Tacoma, but does anyone have any recommendations for a “first mods” list for a ‘19 SR Access Cab? Thanks in advance for all your opinions and recommendations. I appreciate it.

Lift and tires make the biggest difference to me. But something that changes the whole look of the truck for not a lot of money is tinting the Windows.

 

Since you have an SR, I’m gonna go with cruise control and intermittent windshield wipers

What are you going to do with your truck?

 

Single best upgrade you can do to start is upgrading your headlight bulbs. It will make a worlds difference if you put some HID’s in there compared to stock.

 

I would be doing light off-roading, mostly got the truck for bed use and 4x4 along with reliability and versatility. I’m coming out of a Subaru WRX. I live in the country so they’re are quite a few rough roads, state parks, etc.

 

Headlights fo sho.

 

a/c drain mod, even though winter is coming.

I already have paint matched bumpers, but am looking into getting the TRD Pro grill as many do.

My tears are tinted but I would have to agree, some tint on the fronts would be very nice and would transform the look.

I’m pretty sure I have cruise control... maybe not and I didn’t even realize it.

I would have to agree. The SR doesn’t have fog lights(no big deal) but my previous car had led license plate lights and transformed the entire rear view camera and reversing though though it was a tiny $20 upgrade. Any recommendations on specific brand or any work the best?

I don’t know what your “first mods” budget is, but the stocks tires aren’t great, but they might be good enough for you. Worthless in mud though. So I’d say tires might be something to consider.

If you’re using the bed a lot, maybe a headache rack, steel tailgate cap etc.

I’d also recommend seat covers and head unit screen and cluster plastic protectors.

I really like headwaters seat covers. Rip stop, waterproof cordura.

 

I truly never heard of this before but did a quick search of this and will definitely have to check it out and see what I can do for it.

I would love to get TRD Pro wheels with some all terrains or even just a set of dedicated winter tires for the snow. I’ll have to check out the seat covers as I do have a dog that likes to ride with me even though I’m a detail freak.

Not sure where you're writting from...but
Rust proofing would be on my list of investments.
Gives you the edge when you wanna sell it compaired to the others out there later on.

A nice set of Husky xact fit floor mats are a very nice touch to keep the carpets clean long term.
They aint cheap but better than the weathertechs for the same price.
(its all about marketing hype.)...

Have you considered a remote stater for those hot days (a/c),...or heating in winter?

Hey, me too! One of my first mods was removing the dealer-installed rigid "mudguards" and putting on some Rally Armor urethane mudflaps like I had on my WRX.

Second mod was installing H9 bulbs in the low beams. 2100 lumens versus ~800. $7 per bulb on Amazon. Way better than messing around with HIDs or LEDs that fail to position the filament just right.

 

Hitch receiver cover. Let’s you think about what vision you have before sinking the real money. If you are asking about a “first mod”, what are 2, 3....n? Wait for your total vision, then lay out the cash.

 

This is good advice. I’ve already bought a different set of steps and almost ready to ditch my tonneau cover in favor of a bed mount spare for my new tires. There are lots of good ideas on this forum, if I had to do it all over I would have thought ahead, spent more time on the forum,
made a list, and started working my way down it

The best first mod is to just get it over with and do the "Call your credit card company and up your limit mod"

 

I have Xentec HID’s in mine. No issues at all however a lot of people on here recommend XenonDepot. I’ll upload a night time shot for you.
