I would definitely try to talk to them and share your concerns! Returning parts is a pain because of the freight rates.

Did you order the additional part numbers? The lens garnish and the wiring harness?

Hopefully you can get ahold of all of those in the same order.

Also, if you want a way to make the garnish look matte like the rest of the grill, try Xpel Stealth. It’s a paint protection film, so you will have a little more protection against rock chips.

IMO the shiny garnish ruins the look of the Pro grill!

I just got the piece back from my local Xpel installer. I will be installing the grill and garnish after I come back from a short Thanksgiving vacation. Looking forward to some meat sweats with the family.

Also, I don’t think I’m the first one to do this, let me see if I can find a picture of this in action.

I like the silicone idea better than the star locks. The silicone will be easier to remove if necessary with a blade etc. Do you end up buying the star locks or settled with the silicone method?

The star locks aren’t that hard to remove. I would prefer those instead of taking a knife to the grill.

I'm not positive but I think if you disconnect the tss system a warning light on your dash will be on constantly.

I have a 6" lift and the stock grill on my 3rd gen. with no sensor problems. I will be switching to the China grill without shinny garnish using this method.

Hey Now! I'm planning on doing this same mod. Do you have an update on how the TSS is working? Thanks

So I ordered my a Chinese knock off. According to all the posts I've read it is a easy install just take the insert out snap the garnish in with the new star washers. Well when I got mine the insert was held in with four screws no slots for the garnish to snap into and the holes were to small for the studs. I literally had to customize the whole install with a Dremel to get it to fit. Then I had to epoxy everything into place. Works and looks perfect. I just had to make sure that the garnish fit exactly like it should. Was afraid if it had any angle on it the sensor wouldn't work correctly.

Moral of the story if you buy the Chinese knock off make sure you know what you getting. By the way 130.00 dollars for everything and the garnish was a Toyota OEM piece.

I would have sent it back but it took three weeks to come in and it felt like a very scketchy deal. EBAY was very helpful getting this sent even though it was the wrong product.

Any pictures of the grille where the garnish goes? I never hear of this “new” screw on development. :notsure:

No pictures. It was just four raised screw holes. No slots for the snap prongs on the garnish or big enough holes for the studs. I’ve never heard of this before either. That’s why I decided to post so that no one else made the same mistake. Just make sure you get what they say there selling because everything looked completely like all other posts said it should on the advertisement.

Wow, first time I see this type of grille. The molding doesn’t look as good as other aftermarket griles I’ve seen. How’s the plastic material? It the lettering glued on or are the screwed on type?

This is just a picture I found while doing some research. I bought a China grill on ebay for $85 and free shipping. When the grill arrived one of the clips broke during shipping. I contacted the seller and he gave me a full refund! I glued the clip with some JB Weld and its fine. The grill I got has the screwed on lettering and the correct slots for the garnish. Its a beautiful grill. I compared it to a friends OEM pro grill and you can't tell the difference.
