Changing Diff Fluid

Sorry I lost the links to the instructions on changing out the differential fluids. Can someone please post links to the instructions for fluid changes?

Are there special instructions/additives for 4x4 with the locking differentials? I picked up a tube of MOC Extreme-Pressure Lubricant from Toyota Part# 01141. But the guy at the parts counter didn't seem to know what he was doing (first he told me I didn't need to change the fluids at 30k, then he didn't think I needed any additive). What is the proper amount of this to add when changing out the fluids? I was going to do this last weekend but figured what can be more patriotic than working on your pick-up on the 4th Holiday weekend ;-D

Thanks for the link Dude. I just couldn't find it for some reason. Wasn't there also one for the front end as well?

Make sure you can get the fill plug loose first!
Some people drain the fluid and then can't get the fill plug open.
Leaving them with an empty cavity needing fluid and a hassle to get it refilled.

 

So do I use the additive with a locking rear end or not? I am still confused on which type of oil and if the additive is used and is it consistent for all three?

I am not sure from those two descriptions, which one I have. I assume the top one since he states, "with the Locker" but then later one when he says, "Trucks with mechanical LSD.." I loose confidence in my decision.

You've got a TRD Off Road...thus no mechanical LSD (you have a locker instead). No need for friction modifier.

 

Thanks 05Moose. That clears it up. Then that means I do not even have to change my diff fluid right now (according to the Maint Schedule). That makes the project even easier I can take all the money saved and invest in some Sam Adams (strictly for patriotic reasons on this holiday weekend, of course).
