The only ones that will even know will be other truck enthusiasts. You could go to Carmax and they would have no clue. You could go to most Toyota Dealerships and they would have no clue, hell, most of them have no clue about a brand new truck, do you think they would know what a CMC is?
When I traded in my Dakota it had several mods, mostly homebrew mods, and these fools didnt even raise the hood. They just looked at VIN, the mileage, and the seat condition. I got more on trade than I was expecting because it had a water pump leak, but they didnt see that.

I don’t think it would matter in most private sales. A dealership may care.

I wonder if they'd only be likely to catch it if they were going to make a certified pre owned.

I can only imagine the hole they'd be in if they sold a certified pre owned with a CMC and anything bad happened

They wouldn't be there only ones in trouble. If someone is injured or killed in an accident whomever made the modification could be liable as well.

Remember it's not engineers that need to be convinced the modification caused the injury. It's a jury that is not technical and can be swayed by emotion.

My local Toyota dealership is selling several Tacos that have been modified with Rough Country 4" and 6" lifts. They're all running 35-37" tires, as well, so I wonder how they themselves are handling the obvious rubbing issues... if at all? Do they simply ignore it and hope all the buyers are morons?

Traded my 2011 in last week. Blew the rear end in a snow storm. Truck ground and banged into the lot. They didn't even drive it. Lowballed me on the trade so I hope the rear end was completely destroyed and the drive line was twisted. Got a 19 SR5 .

I can assure you most dealers wont catch it if its welded and painted properly.

They won't notice. Same with welded sliders. Cut them off and paint the frame.

If that’s the case, then my truck would be considered totaled AF with a CMC, Chevy 63 swap, and shock relocation. Lol
