Will you be making a cab rack for double cab long bed that uses all the available cab space in front of the GFC? Looking for a good place for a shovel and max trax.

When I talked with Ross before we found out he had the wrong delivery he said he was working on a Colorado specific harness or something. That’s probably what they sent. This one is non invasive. With the way dealers have been lately I’m not trying to tap into my wiring harness unless it’s the only option. Plus a trailer 12V can be used for lights as well. I used that signal to wire in lights as well. I have my own additional custom harness for a double duty.

We're making a number of variations but yes, there will be cab-mounted racks for access and double cab trucks that will utilize the space in from of the GFC overhang. We'll also be making a short cantilever rack that extends about 16" past the front of the GFC and attaches to the lower tent frame for folks who don't need that much space and don't want to mount anything to the cab.

An occasional spritz of Boeshield into the slots will help prevent that from happening.

    Looking good. Thats pretty chilly.

I have been looking for ways to move from a sleeping bag to sheets/covers. What type of quilt and comforter? Its hard for me to find stuff in my area that I am confident could replace a sleeping bag.

Edit: also, where can i buy more of the GFC caribiners? I need one or two more.

I've found a Rumpl comforter to be sufficient for my girlfriend and I. We have the two person size and layer it on top of a normal queen size sheet. Even though it is only rated to 40 degrees (600 fill) it has been enough for us to sleep comfortably with thermals on down to the teens. Sharing body heat from another person makes it a lot warmer, although we might be an exception to the rule because we are used to backpacking through nights below freezing, so mileage might vary for others. At $300 (even cheaper on sale all the time or with a pro deal) for two people, it was hard to pass up. It's nice because we can throw all of our sleeping gear (blanket, sheet, pillows, spare single person blanket for feet if really necessary) into a 15x12x12 bin for easy organization in the back of the truck.

So for all of you 2nd Gens out there, I'll share a mod I made to help with my upcoming GFC install (fingers crossed for January!)

I've had a Leer topper on my truck for years now and I've had it on and off quite a bit. It has destroyed the bed rails on the top of my bed so I decided to go down the KB Voodoo bed rail cap route. In asking some questions here, it looks like the reduced height of the KB Voodoo caps would cause an interference with my shark-fin XM antenna. I listen to XM all the time, so it was super important to keep functionality there but to reduce the height. I also didn't want to cut the shark-fin so I decided to start looking for alternatives.

I came across this thread on a 4 Runner forum which talked about swapping the antenna out with one from a Camry: A couple pages in it has the color codes so you can get a color matched one to your truck. Bought the antenna here:

    https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/...E-RADIO-GRAY-ME-1G3/4199031/8696033010B1.html

This was color matched to my MGM 2012 Tacoma. It was plug and play with the stock Tacoma antenna I replaced, no need to swap wiring plugs as seems to be the case with the 4 Runner.

The install wasn't difficult, just a bit tedious.

You need to remove the door sill plates, then the vertical plastic trim. I unbolted the seatbelt fasteners and pulled those trim pieces aside. The coat hooks come off by rotating them 90 degrees and the Side Air bag "boxes" just unbolt (there is no air bag or sensor directly behind them) and come off.

I dropped the back 1/2 of the headliner, unbolted the old XM antenna with a 22mm socket, swapped in the new one and put the truck back together.

Sorry no pics of the process, but there are some great threads here on TW with detailed pics and write ups on dropping the headliner.

    Here's the end result:

    IMG_8734.jpg

Antenna works perfect and now I have tons of clearance for my GFC when it gets installed.

And while I was at it, I wanted to figure out how to mount one of @wileydavis sweet Perfect Squeeze phone mounts in my 2nd Gen but without his trick vent mount for 3rd Gens it was a little difficult.

I found this thread which shows how to install a RAM ball in the lower bolt hole for the grab handle on the drivers side.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mod-a-pillar-ram-mount-gps-phone-holder.372250/

Then you can mount the Hondo Garage phone mount right to that ball. It puts the phone in a great spot to see easily without obstructing the view and it's still within reach.

I'm going with Gray. I'll post a pic if mine ever gets delivered. Hint Hint.

I just sold my canopy yesterday so now I'm desperate.

No offense taken. I see it as two different use cases. A sleeping bag/quilt duo is typically not wide enough to support two people. So take the price of a single bag and double it. My bag/quilt combo for backpacking is hardly big enough to cover my dog and I, while the rumpl spans two people with extra room on the sides. It doesn't hurt that I get them for a decent discount price either.
