Just covering all my bases. Do our turcks use a narrow band (0-1 volt) sensor, or a wide band (0-5 volt) sensor?

It looks like the install will go a LOT better for a Prerunner.

Bump for a Performance video! ;]

When in doubt, call Gadget, haha. He told me two things.

    1. Alpine told me to install the oil cooler upside down. So I flipped it over.

    2. Toyota uses a weird kind of oxygen sensor, and the smt8 is most likely unable to deal with it. He told me the only unit he know that wil modify the lamda values is his AFR unit. So I hooked the oxygen sensors back up stock, and will drive it that way until I can order the part from him.

Well, my vacation is over, and I have to go home. Everything is as good as I can get it. Time for a 150 mile road test. Hopefully I'll be back on here later.

Drove the truck home today (190 mile trip). Even without the lambda modification, it ran fine. The computer was able to keep the afr where it wanted (14.7-ish), but it was always there, even when I mashed it. I did notice it would sometimes hesitate going up hills relatively slowly in 5th gear, but downshifting to 4th would fix that. Still needs to be fully tuned. I can feel it accelerate faster at low rpms, but when I get it up to 3k it really pulls! Oh, and driving 70 all the way home, my mileage didn't change, even with the computer in 'learning mode' - 26.7 mpg. Sliiightly less than before, but not much.

    Overall review:
If you want a supercharger and have the time and patience to fit it to your truck, go for it. If you don't, I say wait to see what URD puts out because it is fit specifically for the American truck.

I was the guinea-pig, yes, but I have no problems with that. It's not the prettiest, nor the easiest, but I did get it to work. You can make your own decisions from what you've seen from me.

(for all the 'videos nao!!!!!!' types, I will eventually ;))

After seeing your pictures and videos, I am NOT happy about my buy. I have a lot more to say but I won't until I speak to John.

Did a couple quick measurements today. It looks like the reason the pipes go under the frame is because their truck has a crossmember underneath the radiator, where it is higher up in mine (see intercooler bracket issues). I think if I trim the part of the pipes that turn up into the intercooler an inch or so, they will fit over the frame. I can't try this yet; I will when I can.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning John had actually called me from South Africa to talk to me about how the install was going.

Yes, it was all shipped together. I sent an e-mail to Perfect Power, and they are starting to get back to me on it. I'll give it a week, then but URD's AFR tuner. I really don't like boosting at stoich.

i think i'm going to wait awhile until URD puts their product out, just so i can compare the installs. where i live the roads are alittle bit on the bumpy side. also one of the trailer parks i visit has speed bumps that will hit the pipes on the bottom going at a snails pace. my first car actually got stuck on one once.

Well, so far it's running well. I've ordered the URD AFR calibrator. It should be here next week. I'm waiting to post a video of it until I have that in and the system tuned so you can see how it actually runs. Even without the AFR richer at boost, it is still a lot of fun! After a couple hundred miles it has finally broken in. The system is running much smoother and doesn't sound as 'unrefined' as when I first installed it. I do have to be careful, though. I pulled out of a side street with too much gas and sent the truck fishtailing down the road :D. I'm excited to see how she acts once fully tuned.

Also, I need to figure out HOW to take a video, haha. Tie the camera to my neck? I could tape it to the dash, but I'm pretty sure you guys want to see the speedometer, too.
