Tacoma Bed(For Sleeping)

Hey everyone, I just got a camper top...finally... and i was wondering if anyone had recommendations for blowup mattresses. I have a 2nd Gen Double cab 5 footer. Thanks in advance

 

There are companies that make air mattresses that contour around the wheel wheels. Auto Anything sells them. @eccracer104 is their rep on the here and can get you a good deal.

A full size mattress will fit between the wheel wells, but it will be too long for a short bed.

I have a short bed and use the following setup... The tent extension is awesome and allows you to sleep with the tailgate open while still having protection from rain and insects. The mattress is an Airbedz and is great. However, I sleep on my side and needed something softer (now use a memory foam topper) so I'm selling it. Let me know if you're interested. It has only been used a few times.

I have one of these DAC tents and it's nice alternative for people who don't have a 6' bed. Setup is a breeze too.

It takes up more space than an air mattress but it is oh so comfy!

 

After about an hour on my sleeping pad I've sunken down to the bed pretty much. Last question, but how do you store it when you aren't using it? I'm hoping to just roll it up and leave it in the bed.

 

I bought a large zip up canvas case for storing patio cushions that I use.

 

My truck came with a nice soft BedRug, I just put a memory foam mattress topper (from costco) in there and sleep on it. Feels more comfortable than my actual mattress, lol. Since you have a 5ft bed, you'd definitely need a tailgate tent.

 

I use this pad on my Teton cot and that combo is comfortable. I slept in my bed last weekend on top of this pad, 2 doubles up sleeping bags and a comforter while wrapped in another sleeping bag. It sucked. It was so hard, I thought I’d broke a rib in my sleep! I would not recommend that pad without it being on the cot it’s designed for.

 

A few posts down I mentioned that too. My gf and I were basically sleeping on the bed of the truck within the hour. Eventually pulled out two additional backpacker sleeping pads and threw them on top and it made it slightly better (when I woke up I felt like I had aged 30 years ). As @sdsurfer mentioned, a memory foam topper will be the next thing I buy before I go camping in the truck again

I will also be trying a memory foam type pad. I’d prefer one that folds and doesn’t cost $150.
