I have owned several manual vehicles over the years (Two 1st Gen Tacos too) that were not this way and was curious if all the 3rd Gen manual guys/gals notice the feel of the clutch pedal on cold mornings.

The best way I know how to describe it is that it feels like the clutch pedal is greased with molasses. Very sluggish when you let it. It doesnt really affect anything unless starting on a steep hill. After 5 miles or so is closer to normal again.

Guessing mine isnt unique, but thought I'd ask. Mine's a 2018.

Yes, when it is colder ~10F or below the clutch is stiff. I let the truck "warm up" for about 30 sec to a minute and then drive. It will be back to normal in a few miles.

I asked this very question a month back. Was also concerned. But it is normal in these rigs. Someone said doing the accumulator delete helps although I have not had a chance to try this yet.

    Cheers

I am sorry to say that I never experience this problem, but the accumulator needs to die (Die, die, DIE!).

I deal with this daily in MN winters, let it warm up, give the clutch and the brake a few slow pumps before taking off. Loosens it up a lil bit.

My 2nd gen does this also. I never like the feeling of it, but it warms up quickly.

Thanks everyone. Was just curious about this. It has caused zero concern, just curious. Like everyone states, it warms up within a few miles. Love the manual!

Does the 4banger have an accumulator? I remember someone saying it didn’t.

Because my clutch pedal gets stiff during this time of year, no big deal, but if it’s still happening to me and I DONT have an accumulator, then I would say an accumulator delete won’t help with the stiff pedal during cold weather.

That is what has been said. Not that I don't believe folks, but I'm always interested in seeing pics. :D

What has been said by @RedBeard1 (I believe) is that he felt the stiffness might be the rubber boot between the slave and fork? It was said that tearing this off helped with the stiffness issue. That should be common across all MT Tacos?

I keep forgetting to look. I will, and I will post pics. Just like with the rev hang- I’m like “wtf are all you people talking about?!?!” I’d end up staring at my tach waiting for a hang that never happened

Haha! TW-hypochondria. I hate seeing new TSBs being posted.

My Taco has a bit of diff howl, but it is subtle and was there since almost new. I'm ignoring it! It doesn't exist. Just take more Vitamin C.

Yes and stretch. Always stretch before bed. Release the toxins in your muscles so that your immune system night shift warriors can kidnap, waterboard, and execute them.

So true. I bro stretch. I do actually stretch every night just because it helps me get to sleep better. It’s a whole half hour bit that I do. Every once in awhile my gf says “well you do this all the time why don’t you just come to yoga?”
