Diamondback owners, did you all install this stick on gasket per these instructions?

That gasket makes it impossible to reattach the tube without stripping the bolts because it sits too high now. Are these instructions outdated?

I did. I had to really press down on the top tube to compress to gasket to get the holes to line up. That isn't the issue of where water comes in. A lot of water will enter through the front two corners unless you get the OEM plugs that go there, but they're like $58 per side.

Yeah the gaps are pretty wide. I'm about to stuff them with silicone.

I didn’t install that gasket, but have been wondering if I should, so interested to see what others think.

I installed it, and as littlefish said, it probably isn't a point of water entry as much as the gaps between bedrails and bulkhead. If I did the install again I would skip it. Also the metal bar that sits on top of the bulkhead also has a very thin "gasket" already affixed to it.

This thread has all the info on them. Haven't bought them myself but it sounds like they're the answer. I have the spaces gummed up with HVAC putty and water is still coming in.
