What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Well now I’ve developed a bad shake when turning hardish left at speed. Feels like a tire rubbing bad (it’s not I’ve checked), kinda seems to be coming from passenger side. I didn’t touch that side at all expect to check tire pressure and lug nut torque when I did the bushing today. Drives straight and smooth while driving straight and right turns and even left turns unless going 40 or so.

Any ideas of what to check first?

 

Don”t sweat on it... mine is 77K IDK if is original or not but one member here took a picture of his belt at 254K on it and was not that bad...

Planning on change it at the 100,000 miles mark and / or 02-28-2022 at 20 years Birthday , or WP leak , and /or whatever comes 1st.

 

Yep, 17 years ago and counting. Not so much "packing" but silicone lube for corrosion prevention only, seals to keep the crud out.

That's pretty cool...so you made poly seals for the bearings and spacers first and then coated them in silicone? Any chance you'd make more?

 

Vibes only when turning? Any grinding coming from the wheel? Wonder if its the ABS acting up, if you have ABS that is

 

I’d take a pair...

 

Get a set of the ES bushings, part# in the link and go to town with a razor knife. The fit is not super critical as long as it seals.
It's nothing like the BinfordTools custom turned, individually fitted, T6 adapter spacer for the cs144 alternator upgrade.

 

Don’t have ABS. Doesn’t really feel like a grinding more like a violent shake or shimmy. I’ve had the same tires and wheels for a couple months or so now. Now that I think about it, it kinda feels like it would if it were in 4WD on pavement, but it only does it at higher speeds.

 

Got rear ended today while I was at a stoplight. Amazingly, there was not even a scratch on my truck. Woman who hit me was on her phone and will need a new hood.

There's another advantage for lifting your truck. If I was at stock height, it would've been my tailgate.

You could’ve posted the rear camera footage only and saved us from listening to 30 seconds of ....whatever that shit was on your radio lol.

Unfortunately I couldn't control what song was playing on that station at the time, everything else was ads so I had it on that station.
