Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

My hi-pressure feel pump got the bad squeaks when I ran 87...my truck sounded horrible at a stop light. Thankfully the dealer replaced it, $1300 part. Haven’t had an issue since with 91 oct

 

I plan to get mine done before March when my warranty runs out, it chirps like a cricket. Only ever used 93 since I got the tune

 

Mine chirped for a little while, like a couple days, then stopped. Guess I won't worry about it. Goes to show how weird these trucks can be!

 

If my memory is right there is a TSB for bad high pressure pumps.

 

What is the current operation of S mode with 1.05? Does it operate just like D, full lock, etc.? I'm not talking about gear lock, just standard S mode in the current version.

 

You're correct @OVTune, I'm just waiting to go in for it after 1.05 comes out. I like 1.04 and don't want them to flash the latest Toyota one.

I know haha I just want better drivability and response I like to play and it can get wonky with a 6 in lift and 35s but I can wait no worries haha I’m just giving him a hard time. You can’t expect something so difficult to be perfect right off the batt there’s too many variables. I’m fine with waiting till after the holidays he deserves some time off for sure

 

Just got back into the states. To be clear, 1.05 dropped earlier and then got pulled?

 

Has not been pulled, we are just making some tweaks to the base 1.05 so we can continue with release.

There is and it made a huge difference in my 16 sport. It minimized the chirping significantly. 1200 dollars saved by the TSB right there...

Every once in a while, when I get frustrated with how my truck runs, I think about flashing back to the stock pre-TSB tune so that I can refresh my memory of how much I hated it, and how I didn't have to think very long before dropping $800 on 1.03. That's usually enough to stave off the bitching.

Now, I just wish we could get some snow here along the front range. When I had a Chebby Prism, we got LOTS of snow. Once I bought a truck, piddly amounts. MutterMutterMutter

 

I never noticed a chirp but now I’m going to have to listen for it. Good thing the tsb is covered for 84 months or 80k miles here in Cali.

Yes! I had mine replaced back in the summer and the truck has only seen 93 since. On the old fuel pump, it wasn’t quite as loud though still annoying with premium but it was loud AF with 87... initially I’d be at a drive thru and start looking around for the car that sounded like it was about to fall apart. Then realized slowly that it was my new truck...

To anyone with the chirping fuel pump, get it replaced if it’s loud!

 

Yah pretty sure that’s why they did it for free. Can’t believe that part was $1300 before labor...yikes

 

My mpg has gone from 17 -> 12 in the last couple weeks.
I've added a leer shell and gone from 1.04 -> 1.04R.
I can't imagine that's normal.

 

Ouch. I'm averaging 17.5 and thought that was kinda crappy.. I'm on 1.04r 87 running 89 octane
