So..anyone else have the oil light come on for a couple seconds on first start up after an oil change? Now I'm wondering if it's just my truck and I should be concerned lol

 

You'll never believe this but it fixed my clunking ball joints and aired up my tires.

Costco filled my tires with Nitrogen

 

Helium would be better, improves mpg.

And it's a FRAM filter so chances are it has been in full bypass since 1200mi haha

 

So question, in regard to my new gears. I’ve done several heat and cool cycles. Close to 100 miles. Will my truck be fine to take on a longer trip this weekend? Probably 100 miles the first day, then 75 the next, 30-40 the following two days and home about 150issh miles

 

Change the oil now and go do the trip. Or change it when you get back. Or both. Should be fine.

 

I’m feeling brand new right now. I have never heard of anyone pre filling an oil filter. I’ve change my own oil on a lot of vehicle, including bikes, for many years, and have never had an issue nor has an oil light come on. How much does an average oil filter holds? Less than half a qt I’m guessing off the top of my head.
I usually fill the oil until it at the bottom of the full mark on the stick/viewing glass. Once I start the vehicle and it cycles, the oil drops down between the full and the empty mark (middle), which is recommended by most vehicle manufacturers.

 

Its like torquing the drain plug. No one has to do it, but some do for no apparent reason. Ive never prefilled it in my life. Dont see how you can on some engines with upside down filters (2nd gen).

 

I was thinking I would change it when I get back. That will be around 5-600 miles on the oil
