What is the proper way to rotate tires?

Is there a right or wrong way to rotate non-directional tires?

I have heard when moving the back tires up to criss cross them and just move the fronts straight back.

Other people just move back to front and front to back.

What do you all do? What is the RIGHT way? Is there a right way? Thanks

 

check your manual, there are 2 ways if u want to use the spare or not.

This is the way I have normally done it and seen it done. My mechanic just moves back to front and front to back. He said that is what they all do.

 

The left hand diagram is what I did when I rotated mine. I remember that the manual does not show this rotation. IIRC it showed front being swapped to rear but not left/right. I chose to change left/right on the front set when I moved them to the rear. My truck hasn't exploded yet
