That's a very good idea and something I could absolutely do.

I have been meaning to get all of my material into some drawings for all of you guys but the reality is this is still very much a side project and life has been a little crazy for me recently. I have not forgotten about this but had to put it on the back burner for a few weeks and will hopefully resume next week.

Life has to come first sometimes! I'll wait patiently for your side project time to free up and look forward to seeing what you come up with -- i'm excited to get a platform for my truck :)

Interested in this bed system. Thinking of doing one sided drawers for a long bed with a narrow slide (other side) for my mountain bike to mount (fork mount, front wheel removed) and slide out on.

    Very interested!

If you end up with solid models I could help you with some renderings. Here's an example of one for my bed setup (ish... I ended up changing a decent amount on the fly)

Nice work man! Love the system. I’ve been dreaming of making one myself, but this has it covered.
I might rotate that stove 180 so that the drawers on the other side are accessible, but I can see that with your swing out it wouldn’t make sense.

Once the topper gets put on, I’ll give you a shout.

Not yet! I had to put this on hold for a while but I’ll be getting some prototyping this winter and hope to have offerings in April

Maybe I missed it, but what were you looking at charging for a built set and about how much was your cost? Looking at doing one for myself. LOVE your design! Thanks for posting!

EDIT: Nevermind, Thanks. Found it on the other thread!

Really liking the idea of half systems...one or both...and being able to easily remove and store when not in use. Nice work btw.

Thanks guys for the tag. This was my solution but I can’t produce them for people so OP I hope it goes well. And yes I strongly advocate for a removable half system. You have half of the bed to play with and it’s nice to take it out because none of is ever camping as much as we hope to be. Just got back from an epic road trip/off road trip and my first night was on a dirt road next to the Pacific Ocean. Found a spot, pulled out the drawer, and made dinner looking at the sunset. No bins, very little time to get cooking, and quick clean up. 2BAF3F48-55C8-4DD0-AE8F-70767F5545FF.jpg

Very close to what I want to do - but I'm not crazy about how it's tied down. Any other ideas?

I don't know if this ever took off for you, but I love the "flat pack" selling concept, and it really is a handsome drawer system. It's obvious you put in a whole bunch of time and effort designing and building these systems, but since you were asking for honest criticism, I'd say that it's a bit too complicated and specific to certain use case scenarios, which really narrows your market and increases your production time and costs. Like, I don't see what the slide out top is for - a workbench area? It's the same size as the tailgate, so kind of redundant. It doesn't extend the full length of the bed, so not really a gear slide. Also, many people will be using a platform for sleeping, so a slide like that wouldn't be useful in that case. I think, for the most part, the majority of interested people could use 2 basic heavy duty drawers, and a heavy duty platform, thus why the Decked system is successful. But I totally balk at the large and tall size of Decked, how little you can actually store in it, and how heavy it is! You can definitely make a superior drawer system out of wood, just get the price point in that neighborhood. Come up with a basic model at a good price point, then add features like stove storage and whatnot?

Anyways, Best of luck in this endeavor, I hope you can share more of that craftsmanship!

Cool build .but I would worry about it breaking that it’s made out of wood .
