I will still keep my CB though, having different ways to communicate can help in a pinch.

I absolutely deny any expertise.... BUT, I know several people have mentioned the range issue they were having was cleared up when they sanded off the paint at some contact points on their mount. I -think- the ground was being effected by paint in it's pathway. So either keep that in mind or ask some of the CB guru's about that. Good luck & if you learn anything let us know. I'll pay better attention this time. :anonymous:

I have both a CB and a ham rig in my truck. You never know when you'll need to reach someone across the mall parking lot... :anonymous:

CB is a 1975 Kraco DeLuxe 23 channel feeding a 3' Firestik mounted off the back of the bed.
Ham rig is a Kenwood TM-V71a feeding a 1/4 wave mounted to my 3rd brake light with a custom bracket.

I really don't use the CB much at all. It's there in case I'm on the road and hit a tie up and can determine what lane to get in.

Ham - use it every day. Actually, I'm raising an antenna today at the house for an HF ham rig as a base station seeing that I recently upgraded to my general class.

Thought about this over the night. Wondering if it would beneficial to run a ground wire from the antanne bolt to the frame or something. Overkill?

Got some decals in the mail today from @CBoy808 to replace the WeatherTech decals. Quick and easy. Remove old ones; clean with alcohol; dry; install mounting tape; add new decals. Love the result, and the candy! Thanks man!

It's like all 3 motors in synch. in 1 vehicle. Been awhile since I had a V8. LOL

    But now I do!

Need to spend 3 humble hours paying homage to the CT DMV in hopes of being allowed to purchase plates for it.
Somehow I seem to own a fleet of 3 Toyotii, all painted the same not a color, color. (after bath time:)

Happy Sunday everyone. The in laws got me some sweet stuff for xmas including these Plano sportsman totes. Wanted them in hopes of organizing my camping gear. Learned about them on the overlandbound forum. There’s a write up on waterproofing them by using epdm d profiled weather seal in the rim of the top; I’ll be doing shortly. Really digging how perfectly they fit in the short bed.

This is good advice, i have the same relentless cb mount for my setup. Initially i was getting high swr readings when everything was painted. When i scraped the paint off the mount at the spots where it contacts the hood i was able to get my antenna tuned good and get good reception
