Getting a lot of different answers from toyota dealerships. I have the 8yr bumper to bumper extended warranty on my truck and DO NOT want to void it in any way. I was wondering if theres any remote start options that wont void the warranty, preferably dealer installed. A few dealerships are telling me that the trucks come ready with the system already installed and all thats required is the programming of the key fob. others are telling me theres nothing available for 19's. Help?

Can’t help with the aftermarket fob option.

However, it doesn’t void warranty. If something fails and the dealership can prove it’s due to the aftermarket ad on then they don’t have to fix for free. This is true for any aftermarket add on (suspension, lights, etc).

@jayrobot has a great kit that you can unplug and the dealership will never know about, it’s super easy to install as well

This is the route I went for my new 19.
If I have an issue with warranty Ill just unplug it and pull it all out before taking it in. The thing about warranty is they have to prove that your modification cause the malfunction. So a piggy back auto start is not going to void the warranty on your suspension. There is case law on this but I can see not wanting to fight it.

Got my kit from @jmeitz and it works great. Fully plug-n-play. I have an 18. I'd assume it would be fine for a 19 too but I'm sure he can answer that for you.

I wish the app was better but it works well. Does remote start/stop, door locks, battery level, and GPS location.
The app needs a widget and maybe IFTTT integration or maybe scheduling with weather. Example: If temp (according to internets) at 7am is below 60, start car. But, for what it does, it does well.

Do any of these options NOT kill the engine when you open the door? (Keyless trims)

No on the voiding warranty. However because the install is 100% plug ‘n’ play (Push to Start), it can be removed in about 15 minutes. I would still advise one to remove it priorbecause dealers are the biggest scape goats in the world. They will write a novel that starts with brake issues and ends with remote starter.

From the Federal Trade Commission website, “Simply using an aftermarket or recycled part does not void your warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part”. To read the full article, go to:Federal Trade Commission

Yes, I have plug n play for automatic. And yes, 2019 is covered. And another secret, Toyota Dealerships use what I sell you, but charge 3-4 times that.

The only option is to have a Toyota remote start installed. If you install any aftermarket remote start and have an engine management related problem warranty won't cover you. When you phone in an issue with Toyota corporate the first thing they ask you is "does it have an aftermarket remote starter". You could remove the aftermarket remote before you go in but there better not be a trace that there was ever one install. Toyota Corp is asking us to check data lines for damage and if there is, requires us to install a new wiring harness. Data lines cannot be repaired. $$$

I went through this when I first got my truck
Even called Toyota/Lexus R&D and they said there’s no way around it
If I knew this then it would have most likely been a deal breaker

The only reason the dealer is installing the aftermarket is because they can make more profit doing so. They have decided to take the risk if it comes back on warranty to fix it somehow by scamming a claim through warranty or telling the customer it wasn't a warranty related fix.

Yes, buy an HKEY ignition Tacoma.

No way around it on Push to Start.
