The door not closing and the interior noise at highway speeds are likely related to the door seal.

Truck driver makes mistake and wrecks. Yummy beer or bourbon spilling everywhere. Says, “Fuck it, I’m gonna get fired anyway.”

    Slurp. :D

    1. This is normal. They will loosen up over time. All you can do it make sure to give them a good slam.

    2. There is very little sound deadening material behind the rear panel, but there are two large air vents. Removing the panel to install egg crate foam helps to quiet things down, but it's a bit of a project. Putting your ventilation system on recirculate will cause the vents to close and quiet things down a bit. I still have two king size pillows and a comforter shoved back there to help limit the noise until I can get to the egg crate foam project. Here is how to remove the panel:

He said he has a 4 cyl. The 62tsb won't applyd and the air leak was a tab in the past I think on the 17s.

I don't think this is right. Mine were shaky and they replaced my rotors because some of them are warping early, I think it's a tsb? My dealer gave me 0 problems about this, went along for a ride, showed it shaking, replaced them within the hour.

It is not normal for this to happen, and they shouldn't just wait until it's too late.

OP go get your 5k check and get these things fixed. I had a handful of small issues when I bought my 18' and the dealer has fixed every single concern without bullshitting me. I now love this truck and will probably keep it longer than any other vehicle I've owned. If they will straighten it out for you, you will be happy for a long time.

One main reason I traded my access cab for double cab. I hated how the door had a noticeable thump when closing and I even taped down the black latch that disables the rear access door handle (nobody sits back there) that did help with the sound. but hated the sound and I have to say the double cab rear doors close like a mercedes (not even joking as I have an AMG as my daily) my brother has a new F150 access cab and when he closes the door I always look to see if he is angry as he has to slam the door. HA!

I'm 6ft2 250lbs and my 2019 sr5 2.7 access cab is comfortable and I have no issues what so ever getting in and out. Noise? Yes more than my 2015 Sierra that had 100lbs of insulation but that can be fixed by adding some insulation and you should have noticed that on a test drive. I made sure to take one without a salesman and on the highway for miles before ordering mine and knew about it being a little loud on highway. Doors closing? Sometimes I need to slam my doors a bit harder to shut but thats because they are tin cans and the cab is tight. Also found this looking at them before ordering. You are just still use to your old vehicles sound level and closing of doors. In time the Tacoma will seem normal. Vibrations? None. Get that looked at. Thats why you have warranty. Happy New Year !

OP, my AC is not as quiet as my Lexus, obviously, but not excessively loud. My dealership put the DC door seals on the passenger side of my AC when they fixed the kazoo noise and that sounded loud :facepalm:but after it was fixed the noise was reduced significantly. Are the tires the originals?

Follow up question. Was your 2008 an AC? All the comments I have read indicate the 3rd gen has a quieter cabin.

My 2018 AC is much quieter than my GEN 2 2007 AC.

Also I might add that in the 11years I drove the 07 it was only in any repair shop for Toyota recalls.
My 2018 with 3500 miles on it has had no, as in none, issues. The brakes were a little touchy for the first 50 miles but that resolved itself.

Yeah, I passed on gen2 but the 16 is much less noisy than my 04 AC. I'm wondering if it's maybe agressive offroad tires.

Ok, so I did some technical analysis. Or something.

As suggested I rolled the driver's window down and lo and behold the door shut normally. I guess I'm just not used to the build quality (I'm serious). The cabin is almost air tight, something that can't be said of my '97 Saab that I've been in since 2013. Go figure, right?

I have a base SR with what appear to be passenger car all season radial tread pattern so I don't think the roar I hear was tires. But.....

A section of I-95 north of me has been recently repaved so I did a couple mile run on it. The truck was 100% quieter! As soon as I hit the pavement that wasn't redone the noise returned. The highways up here (Highways? There is like one highway and it carries all the truck traffic) are in brutal shape and I'm pretty sure that is the major reason for the roar. Some weird resonance frequency is being generated by the pavement. I remember the Honda ad where they grooved the pavement and were able to play songs (!) just by driving on it.

The low speed 20-25 mph vibration is still here and I will have the dealer check it out when I bring it in @5,000 miles.

Thanks for everyone's input. Will be getting some snow tonight...Will be playing in 4wd tomorrow!
