I played LotRO for so long and so much that I thought I might get a divorce at one time lol. I'm a huge Tolkien fan and was always captivated by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit which I had to read in High School. Then I got the game and was like... "you mean I can actually play in the universe that was created by Tolkien?". LotRO had the best raid that I ever played. The Rift of Nûrz Ghâshu is the best raid ever created. EVER. We would start it on a Friday night and finish it on Saturday night. It took that long. If you played the raid all the way through it took a minimum of 7-8 hours to complete and we were one of the first clans to complete it. We were the very first clan on our server to 6 man the entire raid which was a 12 man raid. We stayed up until 4:30 one morning clearing the final boss. That was the best feeling I've ever had in a game. I miss that game and the people that I played with. I look back at that time with great nostalgia.

    Yeah.
I guess I'm glad that I lean toward the solo adventure type of game -- I have a few of those to keep me busy now. I've only been into a forge once, but I don't really see them as much different than the string of stuff they have given us for a while. Prison of Elders, Public Events, Escalation Protocols, Blind Wells, now the Forges. All pretty much the same thing with slightly different mechanics. Not very interesting. They should have spent their time building more good raids rather than rehashing the "repeating waves of enemies" formula. Gambit has really been the only thing "new" they have done, and I do applaud them for that, mixing PvE and PvP in a unique way. But, it's just not enough.

I still think both Destiny 1 and Forsaken were good games, I just think they ran their course and had a pretty good run at that. Going to finish Tomb Raider and RDR2, maybe go back and finish Shadow of War, then jump into AC Odyssey. That should get me to Anthem.

I wish I could be a solo player but I'm just not. I much prefer the social aspect of online games. That is what drew me to Destiny and made me stick around in it for so long. Even through the rough times I still stuck around because of the people that I play with. But it's gotten to be too much for even me who was once one of the staunchest supporters of the game. I just can't take the game anymore and I'm sick of it. Grinding the same shit over and over is just fucking boring and no fun. Add RNG to the mix and it sucks even worse. I got talked into doing the new Raid Lair the other night and we got it done and you know what I got??? A Two Tailed Fox that I already have. Which always leads me back to Bungie's weighting system isn't working at all.

I'm playing solo in Warframe right now because I'm still learning the ropes. I don't want to get into a group and have no idea what I'm doing. But I'm working toward something in the game so when I reach that point of proficiency I will be ready to play with others. I've started my own clan in the game and as I get better I'll start inviting players that are in a similar situation as I am because the game can be daunting. I like to learn things out on my own and with the help of videos and guides that will assist me through the game. I cannot stress enough how good this game is.

The ONLY single player game that I am going to play in 2019 is The Last of Us II. That is the only single player game that I can fully immerse myself into without having to play with others.

Well I did a couple forges, my buddy got on so him and my wife and i finished up our weekly crucibles then switched to fortnite.
First match was a win! 4 kills for me as well! We then switched to duos when the wife left and got 4 more wins! I forgot how fun that game is. It's too late to buy the battle pass but the map has changed a ton since last season. I actually have a win in every season now in the game .

I think you said it best with bungie as well...just didnt work and I think if they had free reign like what they did with halo they could have made more stuff as it seems they are open and make some decent easter eggs that you have to earn to get. I think part of anthem is that EA learned the hard way pretty bad with battlefront that not being transparent can be really bad especially with their rep as being the shister among publishers. I think to some degree EA is doing everything they can to make sure anthem can fit the mold that they want and IF it doesnt, well atleast the community was informed and can see the growing pains and respect them in that the game will be made right sooner or later. When it comes to bungie, the one moment I just cant forget is that one guy who bragged that kids will be throwing their money at the screen cause of how awesome the new stuff was in D1...then people came to find it was a major hype bullshit that led to POE at the time. I have the vibe that bungie means well, but still thinks they are the big dog with stuff and could still use some humbling. They seem to be good at the three strikes rule and then the fourth round you get something great since they use the three attempts to max out the season pass guys and then a quality update happens where everyone has to pay for it.

Its sad to hear to some degree cause man you have some great experiences and skill to share from the D genre, but whats sad too is to hear the ultimate decision to move on as it was hard for me to do with D1. People will always go back and forth with similar decisions to abandon stuff such as a topic like D, but I honestly felt like I was throwing my money away at the thought of even buying D2 without really knowing anything yet about the game cause I was that tarnished with the original game. I was tarnished so much that I refused to pay for any dlcs which led me to my situation as it is now.

Just your story of these times really does show how awesome that game was which during the time there were quite a few MMOs that I think many people never got to even experience it. I wish I had more time to play it at the time, cause I thought the same thing...it blew me away to actually hit the shire and the possibly to uncover some legit lore that might have been relateable in any capacity to the books/movies.

I agree. The thing is, now they are charging $35 for bullshit content that has no substance. Now a lot of the prominent youtubers that are still covering the game are starting to come to the conclusion that this expansion (and year to come) has no substance. Like I said before... I personally don't think there will be a D3 which is fine with me.

LotRO was never the most popular MMO out there. WoW will always hold that reign. I played WoW for a long time for good reason. It's a fucking awesome game. But LotRO held that special place in my heart and the really nice thing about it was they were very good at sticking to the lore of the books. Sure there was creative license here and there. There had to be. But in the grand scheme of things it was just a damn good game that took you to the places in the book. I remember Moria opened up on Nov. 18th 2008 and I couldn't believe that I actually got to explore the mines of Moria. Funny that I remember the date. Now I know I'm a nerd lol.

Yea and I think that is what I liked about LOTRO so much, they were ok letting you actually explore areas that were in the books and stuff instead of some sister town with a bunch of made up characters and all that. I get the vibe there will still be a D3 since Im sure they made enough money to try again, but yea man that is some bullshit. Whats funny is I dipped on D2 right when some of the big youtubers started to change their channel since they didnt have anything to talk about in terms of the game anymore. I would be glad to see D die though...then makes you wonder what Bungie would do next since they did their "dream" game and with halo completely out of their studio...maybe retire?

I suppose it will be up to Activision whether there will be a D3. My personal opinion is Activision will pull the plug on this game. People are quitting and the forums are lit up with negative comments. Now, take that with a grain of salt because the forums are always lit up with negative comments but the comments have turned from being negative in the hopes that the game will get better to the type of negative where people are just done with the game altogether. It's just a matter of time before the game ends. Whether that will be at the end of D2 or if they give D3 a shot. What will happen to Bungie after that, I've no idea? The thing is... Bungie has some very talented people that work on the game. There is no doubt about that. But there is a disconnect between what the players want and what Bungie delivers. It's almost like they are throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks now. You take what is arguably the best expansion Bungie has ever created and completely thrown it away when so much could have been done with that area.

I started a new clan on Warframe and was talking to a new member that joined and he started playing Warframe for the exact same reasons that I did. Once you play it for a few days you'll understand just how good the game actually is.

Speaking of Warframe... I've created a new thread covering that topic for PS4 along with an option to join the clan. It's 100% free to play so you have nothing to lose.

Ah I need to look into warframe...see what I might be missing. I honestly would be a little surprised if destiny gets pulled cause I think Activision knows that some demographic would still invest in it. If they pull it though, would that mean that bungie would be screwed in terms of their contract? I thought they had to satisfy a 10 year deal in order to not get penalized for not meeting the contract? I would be good though if bungie did drop D after this...I would be pretty skeptic on anything else they put out from here on out though.

Yeah, you keep saying that, but I dont think I have the temperament to play it. To much shit you need to do and understand just to get decent.

Not sure what their complete contract entails but I assume that the contract stipulated that Bungie creates a product and Activision funds the costs associated with development and distribution of the game. I'm sure there is a clause in the contract that states that Bungie has to "create a product that meets the expectations and sales goals of Activision". The only reason I mention this is because Activision threatened to completely remove Bungie's stock options if D2 didn't release when it released. That, in my opinion, is one reason why we got such a stripped down version of the game at the start. Bungie caved and released the game unfinished just to save their stock options. It only took a year for us to get the complete game. Then the earnings call happened in Nov. and Activision wasn't happy that Forsaken ended up eight in sales (which wasn't bad at all considering). So it made Bungie well aware that they must bring players back to the game. The issue now is, the majority of players that have left the game aren't going to come back. So Bungie is just spitballing now trying to figure out which way to go. It's pretty obvious that these mini expansions aren't the way to take the game but they are committed now that they have released the roadmap for this next year. It's kind of telling when there is a large vocal group that is calling for IGN to end it's series Fireteam Chat because there is nothing to talk about in the game anymore. All of the streamers have left and they won't be back and there are very few sources covering the game anymore. Fuck... even Bungie isn't talking about their game on the TWAB. I suppose there are only so many ways you can talk about throwing balls at a forge?

They did sign a 10 year deal with Activision no doubt. But if Activision is anything like EA, which I can only assume that they are given their track record, they can (and will) absorb and / or delete the studio. All it takes is one look at what EA did with Bioware Montreal.

There will be a few that will defend Bungie and Destiny and I can understand why. Hell... I even defended them when I probably shouldn't have just because I had sunk so much of my time and effort into the game. That ended about a month ago with the release of The Black Armory.

I don't think you would like it. You actually have to want to play this game. Warframe doesn't hold your hand at all once you get out of the tutorial. It's all left up to you to figure it out. I've watched hundreds of videos and read a shit ton of the Warframe Wiki just to understand what the hell I'm doing. But, that said, once you do figure it out... It's one of the best games I've ever played.

I'm (once again) creating a clan from scratch. Reddit is pretty amazing with helping with that. This is the game that Destiny should have been.

I cant do it tonight since I have other plans, but I will get started on downloading it and then I'll give it a go for a bit. I have been watching the Warframe for begginer videos on youtube to try and make the transition easier. We will see.

That's how I started. I watched the same videos and I still feel like I don't know shit about the game after playing it for a month lol. I know a lot more than I did but it is an extremely deep game.

Basically it's all about the warframe you pick, the mods you place into it, and knowing when to use your super abilities. None of which is easy to figure out. The mod system is the hardest to figure out. But once you do... Fuck is it fun. But there is a gigantic learning curve to the game.

Oh... and if you don't have a Scuf controller I really don't know how you would play? I tried with a regular controller and I couldn't wrap my brain around it. The regular movement is the same as Destiny but you will rarely use regular movement in this game. The Bullet Jump must become your friend and you must be able to consistently use it. Otherwise you will never feel fluid in the game and you will get left behind.

Yeah the Bullet jump is tied to L1 + X. You have to tap L1 then Press X in the direction you want to go. Which is why I say that you need a Scuf controller so you never have to take your hands off the sticks and you can move multiple directions at any given time. You can't do that with a regular controller since your fingers are off the sticks. I've been playing with Scuf controllers since they came out. I've got 3 of them right now. I will say that you do need to get one where you can remap your face buttons to the paddles underneath to suit your comfort zone and playstyle. I ended up taking the two middle paddles out since I never used them and they were a bit overkill with the exception of being able to rez someone in Trials and also shoot at the same time.
