I have been going through a period of wanting to part with the truck recently. But I think now I’m just going to put the time and money into it. I’m the second owner and I have every bit of documentation from the first owner, who I know. I have a 1” thick file of every single thing that’s ever been done to it replaced on the truck. Seems like a bad idea to start all over with one that I don’t know the history.

A lot of you guys are fortunate to have your Tacomas last as long above 300K miles. My motor blew its head gasket last month at 276K miles & 20 years of ownership, was able to drive it to the repair shop with water leaking out of the engine block without the engine blowing up or calling for a tow truck. I had my mechanic install a used low mileage engine with 130K miles/new water pump, new belts & hoses/tuned up/new oil & coolant on it, 6 months warranty on the engine, & 1 year warranty on the labor. I'm up and running again, but the labor for the engine overhaul wasn't cheap. I'm keeping my truck in good repair, fix the issues that come up, and just pay for the insurance/registration/maintainence as it comes along.

Just rolled over 333K on my '03 DC this weekend. I keep it serviced every 3K-5K and have the differentials and transmission serviced annually. Runs like a champ.

    Wow,

After reading this thread, it is probably safe to say the Toyota 5VZ-FE 3.4 is going to outlive the Homo-Sapian Species especially with the way humans are going.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

The end of the world is coming for the Homo-Sapien species, and all that will be left will be an infinite amount of waste that the humans left behind, The Rolling Stones and the Toyota 5VZ-FE 3.4. Please don't worry about the Stones. They are no longer organic.

Thanks for sharing those pics. I've been in the BMW world for a long time and never had seeing how these engines look over 150k, 200k+ is incredible.
Good to know the cams and cylinders could look that good! Thanks again!

I just sold my ‘15 OR for an ‘02 with 170k on the clock... it is to do an expo build with my youngest son. That said the ‘02 runs perfectly.
