so my 10k on my 2017 TRD Sport is coming up. How do I use these TSB's? Do I ask the dealer to do them and get a checklist afterward that they did? Do I insist if they say no? A little advice on how to approach this would be great.

As someone who worked in a dealership for several years here’s my advice for everyone:

If you’re having issues with your truck then here is what I recommend. If no issues, keep on driving and be happy. There is nothing to do.

If you’re having an issue(s) Take your truck in for service and talk with your advisor. Let them know whatever issues you’re having. Then just happen to say that while researching the problem online you came across a Toyota TSB(s) that listed a symptom that was very close if not the exact issue you’re having. State that you’re unaware if the TSB(s) would apply to your truck, and ask them to see if indeed it would, even if you’re 100% sure it will. Secondly don’t mention anything about TW or a forum. Most people they deal with that come in with a printed TSB and a list of shit are usually really weird people, and difficult to deal with. This is the first thing they think of the moment someone pulls out a list of stuff or a TSB,or several, and demands an immediate fix. Far to many people come in thinking they know what’s wrong with their vehicle and most have little to no mechanical knowledge at all. Not to say a customer has never been right, or some people don’t actually know what they are doing. Let them do their jobs, they deal with most of these problems everyday. A good advisor will usually checks for TSB not only for the customers sake, but for the technician just incase they are unaware one exists. The issue may be know to both and they may already have a really good idea of what the problem and solution is. So simply just state what you found and be as detailed as possible about the problem, the occurrence, things that may impact the issue, making it better or worse. The more detailed you are the easier it is for them to help properly diagnose the issue. Especially since there are many occasions when they try to replicate the issue and can’t at the time. Also it’s always best if possible to have the service advisor or a technician go on a short drive if you think you can replicate the problem for them relatively fast on a few minute drive down the road. If they feel they don’t already know or have an idea of what might be the actual cause. Don’t be the guy who wants to take them on a 30 minute drive and aren’t 90% sure or better that you can replicate the issue for them, you’re just going to waste their time and look like an idiot. After all this is said and done simply sit back and wait to here back in regards to what’s going on. They don’t always drop what they are doing to jump right on your truck, even if you have an appointment at an exact time. They do certain things in a certain order. Some jobs and vehicles have been their a lot longer than yours, some waiting for days if not longer for parts. So they do what is a priority first then move on to what is/needs to be done next. Usually waiters take precedence over vehicles that have been dropped off. I also don’t recommend wanting to sit there and wait just to get your vehicle looked at, especially if it’s not something simple. This will just piss the tech off and they will rush the job/repair. Let them rush on the waiters and impatient peoples vehicles and take their time and try to properly diagnose and repair your vehicle. Not saying this is always the outcome but you have a better shot at a better quailty diagnosis and repair. So wait for them to do their jobs and fill you in on what’s going on. If they can’t replicate the problem afterwards maybe ask to speak to the tech directly and go on a short drive with them if you haven’t already done so. If they return the vehicle and nothing can be done at the time, maybe try to get whatever is going on on video or some way to give them proof or stop in at a time when it’s reoccurring. If you feel they are just dicking you around or you’re unhappy with their service, feel free to take it to another dealer to have a second opinion.

We’re all weird in our own ways. I just try to be less weird out in public and dealing with people I don’t know lol

I wish I would have seen this for the iron particles. It was a nightmare trying to get them to fix it! They didn’t want to do a decontamination wash and looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned it.

Not sure I follow. Can you explain what issue you had with iron particles?

Wow I just read this TSB. This is wild! Apron, boots, gloves, eye protection! Just for getting a new truck off the train!

Thats to use the chemical. When new vehicles are transported they are subject to iron particles “rail dust”. I got a white truck. It was covered!!! The dealer did not know what I was talking about when I said they need to decontaminate the truck to remove particles. All vehicles have them from transport even high end vehicles such as Porsche. The train tracks mixed with the hard braking of the train cause particles to fly into the air land on vehicle and burn into your vehicles.

I have no idea but there is this,
T-SB-0170-16 R1: Wind (Reed/Buzz) Noise From Front Doors - CrossWind Conditions, maybe they’re similar.

If I am buying a 2019 that is yet to be built (Feb 19th) will all of these problems be fixed or do I need to go to Toyota and have them fix the issues listed in this thread? Sorry if this has been talked about before.
