Thinking about spray painting my fog lights...

Has anyone tried to use this...

If so do you recommend it? Got pics? I'm not wanting a dark canary yellow look just a light yellow.

Bkeith linked my thread, save your money and do it with the krylon stuff if you dont want laminx.

 

My friend sprayed his foglights on his old civic and it just faded over time. Either go laminx cover or do what i did and get a set of yellow bulbs. I like the clear lens better.

 

I've read a lot of posts. Most people bash the lamin-x but I'm not sure why. Why did you paint yours and not use lamin-x? Thanks for the help!

 

1. cost
2. no patience (wanted to do it that day)
3. simplicity and ability to touchup if necessary
4. plus I used a little on my dust lights and still have a good 7/8 can full left.

 

I've actually started looking into the lamin-x a little more. I'm now thinking about doing this instead of painting them.

-They are only $17
-Would be easy to remove
-Don't need to take the fog light out

What am I missing here?

 

I have yellow lamin-x and love em. Ive had no problems with them!


And you want to take the fog light out, it takes a min to take it out and its easier to apply the film.

Does anyone have instructions on how to take the fog lights out?

 

I painted mine with krylon yellow stained glass window paint from a craft store. They have been painted for almost a year now and haven't faded.

I think the can cost $8 and I still have a ton left over. Two light coats is all it took

 

Its pretty simple. Get under the truck and unplug the wiring. Its easier if you just unplug it from the bulb and leave the bulb in there. There are two tabs on the side of the foglight and two holes in the bumper where those tabs go in. That is one part holding the fog in. The other is a black clip thing that the screw part of the fog goes into. It is located right under the bulb. You first want to get one tab out of one hole. Then push the foglight from the back and get the foglight screw out of the black clip thing. Then take the fog light to one side and the other tab will come out of the whole.

Once you get under there and take a gander is pretty self explantaory.
Let me know if you need any help. I also thought about spraying my fogs yellow, but the only thing that stopped me is, what if in a year I didnt want yellow fog lights? With the lamin-x if I get tired of the yellow, I can just take the film off!
