Ya, it is so that when they pressure wash/steam the engine bay, they don't hit the filter directly. Probably just forgot to take it off.

 

Not really the same. Going to the expense of along travel install suggests the vehicle is being purposed for offroad duty. If that's the case, then why a fullsize? Towing and Hauling? Better off picking up one rig for the trail and another as a workhorse vehicle.

 

I gotta say I dont like it at all.

 

Eh its not that great. Its too big, might as well take a tank with a superior towel filter and call it awesome.

 

That truck is sick and well built. Its a perfect chase truck. I wouldnt go thrash it like a smaller truck but its a solid chase platform.

Ok I accept that. But the air filter appears to be exposed to and draws the dusty air from inside the right front fender. Is that ok on an off-road oriented vehicle?
It's also been my expereince that an investment in after-market modifications yields ten cents on the dollar at the time of sale. Modifications also limit your buyer market and make such vehicles harder to sell. Some of those mods could void what is left of the factory warranty. The truck is sitting because the price is too high for the recession and bad economy we are in. I would also assume that many who are into off-roading would rather build the truck themselves rather than buying unknowns from someone elses build.

Is it cheese cloth covering the K&N filter? It would make it easy to keep all the leaves, large debris, and bugs out of the filter if it is open to the wheel well with the fiberglass fenders. I don't think it would restrict airflow. It doesn't look very showy, but not a bad idea to solve the problem.

 

That is a nice truck. I was expecting another 6in lifted, big tire, huge bumper truck.
