[What did you do with the crankcase vent hose that attaches to the inlet tube (what you replaced)? -- DISREGARD. I saw the HPS product, it has a connector for the crankcase vent hose.]

And can you describe the minor cutting?

Any other pix would be great.

    Thx.

How’s the sound on the one bro?

I just want my intake to sound louder, so the HPS tube seemed like the right solution. However there is review for the HPS tunes for a 370z on YouTube, and the sound stayed exactly the same.

    See Post #13:

I'd like to think it's going to add some sound since you are removing the stock (gigantic) resonator box.

Yeah, I much rather spend $150 on a resonator delete than $400-600 for a full after market intake.

I can’t believe these Companies have viable businesses selling CAIs at that price point. Do people actually believe those outrageous power claims?

Well, the claims are under very controlled circumstances by the companies. I, however, like adding an intake for the sound.

And I agree, paying 150ish is better for the wallet. I was able to pick up a TRD intake for $300 and that's the only reason why -- that price point.

Bringing this back alive as I don’t really want to spend 400 bucks on the TRD CAI. I am thinking an HPS intake tube and the acceleration horn from the TRD CAI (about 26 bucks) makes for a cheaper solution. HPS claims something ridiculous like 12ish HP on that tube. I’d like to hear your thoughts on that, throttle response, or anything performance related if you don’t mind.

Just sell it on eBay, might be able to get a couple hundred bucks toward other mods. If you were closer to Montgomery County, PA I'd sell it for you.

This is a little known "issue". Not really an issue though, stock intake doesnt make the noise loud enough to hear from the cab due to the resonator and closed box design. Open boxes dont muffle the sound and you hear the intake draw some air when you turn the wheel. This happens on stock trucks, you can hear it if you listen with the hood open and someone steers for you, especially after the truck reaches operating temp and the rpms are lower at idle. Power steering pump use causes an increase in RPM temporarily and the clunk is made from throttle opening more and air being drawn into the intake. No harm or need to worry, sounds like the techs came to same conclusion.

    Also explained well here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/popping-noise-when-turning-front-wheels.479062/#post-15453498

You were right IMHO. Because it wasn't the intake itself wasn't making anything 'work harder' at idle, or anywhere else.

Suspect the OE intake muffled what you were hearing. A bit of PS load from screwing your tires into the ground at idle likely created a step up in the idle speed from the PS load on the engine. That's an ECU function that might crack a touch more throttle in your drive by wire system.

Don't get exuberant. Wait till you are thrilled over how they handle something serious, should you be unfortunate enough for that to occur.

Do you think it’s worth the money? I’m in it for some noise and I’ll take .3mpg if I can get it.... better than nothing.
