Hey guys, just ordered a procomp 65660k lift kit. Just wondering how long it should take to install? If its not bad ill install it myself in the snow, but if its very long i may opt to get it installed at a shop.

This is a very very broad question with a lot of variables invovled. Depends on your tooling, experience and the condition of your truck. One things for certain I would not want to do it in the snow!

When I did my lift it took about 6 hours and that included replacing the leaf packs, rear shocks, front coilovers, front upper control arms, removing front sway bar and adjusting the coilovers which was the most tedious part.

It's great to do yourself though if you can, I would try to borrow a friend's garage or something or wait till there's no snow on the ground.

Its basically an add a leaf and spacers for the front. I feel like it shouldnt be bad. But then again i've never lifted a truck before lol

The spacers up front shouldn't take very long at all honestly... the add a leaf would take longer but overall doesn't sound too bad.

Cool, basically what im hoping for, is a somewhat warm day maybe do just the front or just the rear (and if its not too bad out do all of it in one shot)

I'd say this also if you aren't rushing. Sure it can be done much faster by someone who does this all the time or has a vehicle lift. Drive way and jack stands then yeah 4 hours. If you live in an area that rust is a problem, start spraying all your bolts with wd 40 or something similar and continue to do so each night. Long breaker bar maybe needed also. Drop the front skid and the sway bar on each side to make install easier. I'd suggest multiple c clamps for the aal install. Torque your ubolts down to atleast 80lbs and not the 37 lbs stated in the manual. May be easier to take your whole leaf off and apart to install the aal but doing it on the truck isn't bad either. Extra set of hands and 2 jacks help with moving the axle around and lifting it back up to meet the springs. Good luck!

Oh im sure theres gonna be some fun with rust . Spraying the bolts in advance is a really good idea, thanks!

On my wifes xterra i couldn't for the life of me break free her rear bottom shock bolts. Took 4 days of spraying and still had the 2 foot long breaker bar bending and feared it was going to snap but they finally broke free.(used to be a Colorado vehicle) Things as small as that one bolt can turn your 4 hour install in to 8 hours or multiple days b/c you can't move forward.

I've been there, but in a different situation. Went to Mr. lube for an oil change when i first bought the truck (it was winter and i didnt want to risk old ass oil) which was all and well, until i went to do my next oil change. I swear to god they used thors grip to put on that damn filter. Took me 2 days, and 5 different tools to get that sucker off. I broke/ bent 3 of the tools and I ended up having to take the wheel off go through the wheel arch and get a fat filter wrench into there. I honestly thought i was gonna have to get it towed to a shop. Mr. Lube, not even once :bananadead:

Be sure to scrape the driveway down to bare pavement/gravel so the jack and stands have solid footing. The install is not a bad job but I’d give it a full Saturday on account of warm up breaks and getting pissed at rusty bolts. The cold and snow will make every little problem worse.

After breaking the first tool I would have beat a flathead screwdriver into the side of the filter and gotten it off that way.

I installed my 2in front spacer and Headstrong progressive 3 leaf AAL this weekend. First time ever doing a lift. Took about 7 hours.

    Advice in my experience:
Spray all bolts a day or two before installation.
If you access to impact wrench(air or electric) it will make it easier and faster. (I didnt lol)
    Take your time!

Look up Kflo on youtube for front spacer install. Very good instructions and has torque specs as well.

If you know what you're doing and have the right tools, the kit will only take 2 hours. If you're not 100% mechanically inclined and only have a small tool box you're looking at 4 hours.

I really don’t want to know how long it would take me. Probably weeks with the truck on a lift. Most of the time would be me staring at the truck trying to jedi mind install everything.

    I know my limits haha

installing a lift out in the snow sounds rough... Do you possess the adequate tools, jack stands, floor jack, c-clamps, etc? I would suggest a 2nd person..... as some have stated, start pb blasting the fasteners now.... watching youtube videos ahead of time will also give you an idea of what to expect.... good luck

It's not bad. Just take your time doing it and don't be in a rush.

Does the 5 lug have the same problem as the 6 lug, with the rusted alignment cams?
