Ok. Got my Meso ultimate dome light today. After I installed it, the interior lights will work manually, as in when I turn the switches on and off, but they won’t turn on when I open the door or turn off when I close the door. Any ideas?

My first reaction is to ask whether you have the selector in the door position. But I am sure you checked already.

Recommend you post in Meso thread.

But a tag to @mesojdm might help as well.

I haven't had that issue but I am also a 2nd gen. Good luck hope you get it worked out

Yep, the switches work in the manual on position but not in the door position. It’s almost as if the truck doesnt know if the door is open or closed. Anybody know what controls that function so I can look there?

You probably blew a fuse. I did the same thing. Check in the driver's side fuse panel

Fuses checked and all good. I’m at a loss...what controls the dimmer? Maybe that’s the Problem?

Not related to the MESO product per say, but I have read other threads where a short or something during install did something to the BCM (Body Control Module) that controls the dimming. I would put the stock bulb back in, and if it still doesn’t work right take it to the dealer and say NOTHING about putting an LED in the dome light. A buddy of mine had to do this exact thing. Also, even though it’s just a bulb, always remove the negative cable when changing ANYTHING on these trucks.

Can’t see how it would short anything out. I just installed a second set of these tonight. Turn interior lights off, plug in adapter, turn lights back on to see if it works... if not flip the bulb adapter around and g2g.

OP, does the light work properly with the standard bulb still?

The lights work. They just don’t come on or turn off with an open and closed door anymore. They will go on and off if I switch them manually.

    Where is the BCM?

Not sure where it is at. One other thing to try first is to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. It should reset everything. IF that doesn’t fix it, it may need a dealer visit and again DO NOT mention the LED’s. Im telling you my buddy had the same thing happen with a simple Sylvania LED from Autozone. He somehow shorted across the socket when taking the old bulb out.

Just to rule anything out, try swapping the stock bulb back in. Also disconnect your batter to reset the computer

Also, a blown fuse can appear normal. Try putting the stocks back in like Meso said but never trust the appearance of a fuse. You gotta switch the fuse out or test it to see if it’s getting power is the only true way.

The lights work so I don’t think it’s a fuse. They just don’t come on when I open the doors or fade off when I close the doors.

I hate to say it but that is what happened to my buddy. If you somehow shorted the connection even for a split second it could have damaged the BCM. I would put all the stock bulbs back in and call the dealer and again DONT say a word about changing the lights to LED’s.

They run $200 to $400 online. Not sure if a dealer has to do any programming etc. my buddy had the dealer replace it and said NOTHING about messing with the LED’s.

Ok. They said they replaced the BCM and the dimmer still doesn’t work...any other ideas? What else could it be?

No, I just turned the dome lights off.
