You should look into single vs double shear mounting of suspension components. It really is very beneficial to double shear the UCA.

I bet you could make one out of square tubing wouldn't be too difficult.

Rob, as usual, great write up!

As you said the 4Runner would probably require some sort of cargo backer on the rear which I had plans of getting if that’s the route I took. I also have my tent trailer which I use to carry all my camping supplies around.

I just feel like I get more for my money with the 4runners, but that’s just my opinion.

No she is nice. Just think I’d rather have a 4Runner.

You are more stubborn than a tooth ache, but that is not a bad thing. The Runner with the KoBros does look nice. I have to admit. And that flag decal on the rear side windows like @twheat40 is damn sexy

But you’re right. Those flags look sick!

The only thing about that 4Runner is I’d have to disable the kdss because the more I’ve read the more I don’t really want it.

Heard that it limits the down travel and certain lifts and stuff won’t work with it. Read some stuff about it on t4r.org earlier.

Plus it costs about $1,500-2,000 to fix if it breaks.

In the rear and barely. If you are like me and dont ride with sway bars, go for non-kdss. If you keep sway bars on, get the kdss. It actually increases front articulation over a sway bar because it allows either side to work independently while going slow. Can you long travel it? No, it would have to be removed. It controls body roll better than a sway bar and articulates better than a sway bar in the front. It is a sway bar on steroids. And from what I understand, it rides like a dream on the road at high speeds around turns. Would I get it? No. I am going full long travel eventually. Would I suggest it to anyone interested in mild offroading and mostly daily driving? Yes. Every lift company makes kdss options and most can fit either I believe. I know my setup would bolt up to a kdss trail. I think its certain pieces of armor that have to be kdss compliant.

    Just my $.02

no I do not lol and I doubt it will be much less. im looking at taxes coming across the border which would be like 325 bucks anyways, plus gas and travel time. if I can get it shipped above the border for an extra hundred bucks it saves me the drive and having to deal with the border lol

I would shit if that happened to me hahaha is that what those bars are for? never knew that, wasn't whats his name selling one? dgracer or something?

Might have to do some more research and make sure. Appreciate the input. Guess most people just talk bad about it because they’ve had a bad experience. I know you don’t have it but you seem to know plenty about it.

If I ever don’t want it I think it’s a pretty easy fix to remove.

I do a lot of research because the 4runner community is small and even smaller still are those that do major upgrades. So it gets to a point where if I want to know something, I have to do some pretty extensive research about it.
I think if you have found a good deal on a kdss equipped model, dont shy away from it because of the kdss. Pull the trigger and deal with the kdss later if it becomes an issue. I dont know how easy it is to remove, but I do know that it is hydrolic and should be as simple as unbolting some things, but I dont actually know.

I decided to give the exhaust a second go. It was too loud for @ilubtimmyhos so he gave it back to me. My first attempt at cutting down on drone (or at least getting it to an acceptable level) is to make it not dump straight on the ground. I cut off the hangers, filled the holes with some 14 gauge sheet metal I had laying around, rotated the tip and welded the hangers back on. Will test it tomorrow to see if it makes a difference. If not, I have a resonator that'll go on next.

    Kinetic dynamic suspension system.

The trail/off road model 4runners have them as an option. It is a hydrolic system that essentially controls body roll and keeps the body level better than a sway bar. At slow speeds it allows the front suspension to work independently, allowing for more articulation.
