Wow. It has to feel like summer. Fog makes sense after those frostquakes. Did you have any in IA?

Didn't have any in this snap, but have had them before. Could have sworn a small plane flew into the side of the house. Freaky

It's conditions require a good soak of the ground, followed by a really hard freeze. It's rare, last one I've experienced was about 6 yrs ago

    OK who wants it? lol

    IMG_20190201_161541.jpg

so here's my feedback on the ADM...

    - i did a hard line bypass rather than a flex line.
    - my experience isn't as big a change as most everyone reporting on here. that's probably because i have had the return spring removed all year, so the ADM after no return spring is not as big a change, although a clear one. qualitatively it's similar in weight and all, just a bit more definition as it bites & releases. i can engage and feel the chatter for the first time since buying the truck over 2 years ago.
    - this has basically tempted me to want a Stage 3 URD clutch, but i'm not spending cash on that if my stuff still works. maybe one day, maybe turbo with it?
    - one interesting thing just to report: Pablo was curious after bypassing it, so he initially left the return spring off and assessed it w/o the spring after completing the ADM. he said the spring is absolutely necessary if no accumulator. basically the return spring pulls the clutch back out of engagement. if it's not there, the clutch kind of sucks in from the negative pressure, making it almost impossible to feel & modulate. he said, aside from being nearly impossible to drive, it didn't feel like a clutch. so the return spring is back on. and it feels like a totally normal setup now, just a little light for me.
    - the bite point moved down a bit to around mid-travel, before it was close to the top.
    - all in all it's much better and more comfortable as well. but i'm now hungry for much more, but stopping here for now.

It still makes me laugh at myself that you feel the clutch isn't much heavier without the spring. I'm a mess. :D

I wonder about heating the spring to soften it a bit, or rebend it to get less preload? Maybe a shop might know how to alter it without destroying it?

I agree the spring is a bit too strong and its motion is not linear. It is unfortunate that we cannot do the linear spring mod that the 2nd Gens can.

One option comes to mind that I do not know if it would work. Swap in a 2nd Gen pedal, but keep the 3rd Gen master cylinder since it is metallic not plastic?

i would probably jump on it now especially since the Core shifter deal fell through in the short term. but thing is, there is a small (yeah, actually small) possibility i'd go turbo. if i did the clutch would be different. so it's wise to hang tight.

I read on here a ways back about the heavy flywheel that URD sells with their clutch helping a lot. Have you given any thought to just upgrading the flywheel for now and then doing the clutch once it’s worn enough to justify the purchase?

For me, be a shame to get a new clutch with only 20k miles lol.

yes i've considered all kinds of things, and am looking into the future now, so sitting tight to figure what's out there. no big plans yet. i just spent another $1500 in mods last week, eesh. Hammer Hangers FTW!!! (i would do these first next time, about the same time as installing OV, can't believe i waited two years for those).

Damn, I’ve only been active back on this forum for 24 hours (thanks tax return season) and I’m about to be spending just as much... i need to stay away from you!

Hammer hangers. Holy shit I didn’t even know it was possible to fix the rear end sounding like it’s fucking breaking in half over every speed bump.

If you are going to hang out with this crew you need to do one of four things....
    Hide your wallet.
    Mortgage the house.
    Sell your extra organs.
    Gay for pay......lol

Tell your SO you are a traditionalist and expect her family to pay for the wedding. In addition, tell them you require a dowry of a lift, tires w/wheels and whatever additional mods you desire.... ;)
