My silver 2000 Tacoma 4x4 was totalled a month ago by some chick not paying attention to the road. See previous thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...as-rear-ended-yesterday.586862/#post-19574092

After looking online for weeks and weeks and talking to my friends, family and coworkers, I have learned a lot more about which aspects of a truck are a want and which ones are a need for me personally.

Basically my needs are a 1998-2004 (would do a 95-97 if the situation is right) V6, auto trans, and extended cab, daily driver - ex cab because of bed size and extra room in cab; it's the ideal situation for me. Good tires and all go without saying.

Wants include 4x4, locking differential, trd trim package, CD/Bluetooth player, custom lights etc.

I will compromise on my wants, but my needs must be met, otherwise I get the wrong tool for the job if that makes any sense.

I would be willing to travel long distance for the PERFECT truck, otherwise I am looking for one a reasonable distance from Birmingham, Alabama. Say 200 miles or less? Give or take 25 miles.

If you know anyone about to sell a truck, or if you would like to sell me your rust free, under 200k mile, under $9k good condition Tacoma with all this in mind, please contact me through this forum or send me a message to my inbox.
In the meantime, I will be hunting them down on Craigslist and other sites.
    Thank you for reading.

I will be hunting them down on Craigslist

I got mine on craigslist. I also saw scams there and even responded to one before
I realized. But the truck I got was at a little dealer the next state over. Their "brick and
mortar" business location helped me feel safer about dealing over craigslist and I got exactly
what I wanted by waiting for the right deal - except I settled for over 100K mileage
instead of less than 100K mileage, those are hard to find.

Yeah, Craigslist is where I bought two of mine previously. One from an individual and the other from a used car lot.
Probably will end up nabbing one from Craigslist eventually.

I guess because they under valued my truck and fixing it rose above the 75% threshold. Had to make a tough decision. Didn't want to make it a project truck. Have plenty of projects on my hands already

Awesome man! Thanks! I will take a look when I get home from work.
It's pretty fun to see what's out there even when you are not shopping yourself. I did that a lot when I had my truck

Yes! I am looking at a few of them, but I am still waiting in one that leaps off the computer screen at me.
I appreciate you sending me the links man!
Send more in the future if you want. Until you see a post from me about my new truck, I will still be looking

Also, installing a stereo with CD and Bluetooth is the easiest part. You'd be better off buying a truck with a stock stereo and installing what you want.
