My 2008 Tacoma is repeatedly blowing the "IG1" 10a fuse. When it started, the VSC started flashing and the CEL and car with the squiggly lines behind it symbol light came on solid. The speedometer and the turn signals stopped working, too. I've replaced the fuse several times in the last week. The first time I drove 1.1 miles and all was normal. Started it up again and the fuse blew. I borrowed a friends code reader and it has a P0500 code. This last time I replaced the fuse my turn signals and speedometer were working but the VSC, CEL, and the squiggly car stayed on. I only drove for about 2 miles after replacing the fuse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Any modifications to the truck?

Need to find out what circuits run off that fuse . Working on a 05 rav4 blowing gauge fuse . Ac and blower, 3 pass windows, rev lites , speedometer all not working not to mention vss, trac and check engine lite on. because of gauge fuse .Kind of crazy how different circuits connected to that one fuse . Owners manual will tell you what runs off of each fuse .
Found wiring diagram on ebay so now time to trace down wiring .

From the diagram posted, it seems like the ign1 fuse is involved in a lot but notably, TRAILER TOWING. I wonder if you have salt and wet slush in the trailer socket if you are so equipped.

The trailer socket was exactly where we went on Saturday. Found a small amount of dirt in there, blew it out, put in a new fuse and VOILA! Hasn't blown the fuse since. Thank you all for your input.

I'm glad it worked out for you. That salty conductive mess is a disaster.

Well, her blown fuse problem is back. Trailer harness looks good. I did unplug everything and plug it back in.

It could be the socket itself that is shorted. Unplug the socket from the harness and leave it unplugged for a few days and see if it blows the fuse with it disconnected.

The fuse hasn't blown again since I disconnected and reconnected everything. There was a bit of dirt and dust that came out of the trailer connector. I'm hoping you're right on the right track and that was the problem. It was blowing every day or multiple times a day before that. If it happens again I will use contact cleaner to wash out the connectors.

    Thanks for the help.
