    Off topic but this doesn't make sense. Tool steel has a hardness of around 58 Rockwell C minium. Titanium is around 36. Walmart bolt cutters would have no problem cutting off a titanium ring.

    Maybe he was thinking of tungsten carbide?

    I mentioned that as well... Tungsten/Carbide is a lot more brittle though. I think bolt cutters would still have no problem shattering it.

    Mostly stuff I built.
    Tungsten will shatter on its own if crushed on your finger. Done it! That is why I wear a silicone wedding band now.

    So a minor issue with the switch. I was emailing back and forth with Craig at aironboard.com and it seems this particular switch is not that popular. He is low on stock and will likely not be getting more for 6-8 weeks. I have a few leads on alternatives that may be just as good. I have ordered one to check it out.

    I won’t be installing mine until it warms up so i dont destroy the plastic dash parts in the process. I’d guess it’ll be around April so I’m in no rush

    How would this switch work?

    1. Press 2Lo button
    2. Turn drive selector switch to 4lo.

    Sorry guys, nothing done on my test harness this weekend. I got sucked into house stuff and wasn't even able to finish up my ADM.

    I'm going to try to work on it after work this week and have something useful to report by next weekend.

    I'm new to this forum. I want to thank the people who post info to help everybody with mods and upgrades to their Tacomas. This is the first truck that I've owned that doesn't have 2wd low range capability. I think its ridiculous for manual trans 4x4 trucks to not have a 2low option from the factory. I'll be doing this mod when the weather warms up and I have time to spare.

    Because in the MT there is no slow speed in reverse. It’s geared way too high stock so when you have tow or have a heavy truck it sucks and requires a lot of clutch slippage or running 4Lo

    @Vonhetzer

    If you tow at all you could still benefit from this as the reverse gears are still high in the Auto's.

    Definitely still useful for an AT if you tow a heavy trailer a lot.

    I (as an AT) developed it for 3rd gens. I assumed it would be used for maneuvering at the boat ramp, but in general I have found that not to be the case.

    My wife usually maneuvers the truck and trailer while launching and recovering the boats. She usually just puts it in 4hi once she is in the lane and backing straight up to launch or recover (just to be safe on steep slimy salt water ramps). She doesnt bother with 2lo or 4lo. All the backing in this case is down hill, so really she is normally just modulating the brakes rather than giving gas in reverse. She gets so many thumbs up...

    I actually use 2lo more often when backing the boat and trailer back up from the street 90degs into the driveway and up into the garage. It makes it alot easier to feather the throttle when trying to backup and push trailer up hill and over the 1.5" step into the garage.
