Alternator whine buzzing sound HELP (I'm going nuts)

I have a Pioneer deck and JBL 4 channel amp, no sub. I have the buzzing sound when the truck is running, which goes up in pitch with the engine revving. With the truck off, there's some hissing but not bad.

I've narrowed it down a little. Since it's a 4 channel amp I have 2 sets of RCA's going from the deck to the amp. If I unplug EITHER pair of RCAs the sound goes away even if the truck is running (when it was the worst). I can unplug a pair at the deck OR at the amp and it goes away. It only happens when BOTH pairs of RCAs are hooked up. The RCA's are traveling down the passenger side alone. All other cables are on the drivers side.

Do I just need 2 new pairs of RCA cables?

 

get a ground loop thing from radioshack.......bout $15 i think........hooks to the rca cables.....will take care of that buzzing.

 

Ground feedback... So a ground loop isolator is what I should get? Or should I ground HU at the amps ground?

 

i'd actually probably do both...but thats just me.

 

Make sure the HU has a good ground, and ground the amp to the frame and you shouldn't have any problems. Could be a bad set of RCA's, but a good shielded set isn't that expensive.

 

Thanks guys! I just used the factory wiring's ground when I installed the HU. Maybe that's not good enough.

i grounded the head unit cage yesterday...made a lil difference, but popping is still there.
