OBD Fusion tips and tricks

I have a FireHD 8 8th generation
I need to learn more about it and how it works , thanks all for the tips .
Pretty good with windows , just not android yet.

Can you explain how you made the rings work for the on vs off?

 

I do think I have it , I had to set up email etc.

This is just my first draft of a dashboard , I will be playing with it to spruce it up a bit.

 

I don't understand how to get it to display the actual misfire count from a drive cycle anywhere -- all I see is a list of monitors with green checkmarks next to all of them. Is there any way to get the misfire value to display in a Dashboard, or is it only possible to log the info and review it later?

Little bit confused, obviously.

Anyone who could walk me through the proper procedure to monitor misfires would be much appreciated!

 

@LDS 77 How did you get 4Lo to trigger? Mine just triggers whenever 4wd is activated. Can’t get it to differentiate between 4Hi and 4Lo.

Here’s the settings I used. You can play around with it to get it how you like.

I just made different displays and put them all on the same dashboard to see what works than delete the ones I don’t like or don’t work.

 

Just an observation, not a slam. Customizing the layout reminds me of when I play video games with the grandchildren and they spend forever getting their car, avatar, whatever setup just perfectly and I'm sitting there thinking, just play the damn game.

 

I thought about that tablet but the Fire tablets didn't have GPS so I passed on using them in my truck. They're great cheap tablets otherwise. I am using the tried and true Nexus 2nd gen tablet in the truck.

 

I gotta agree with you on CoPilot. I've been using it for years. I even have the European maps and they work flawlessly. As for Google Maps, I downloaded European offline maps but never used them. It's kind of a pain anyway since they expire. I'll stick with CoPilot.

 

I agree. I like the builtin gps navigation as well. The only problem is, some cities aren't listed. For instance, I can't enter Pace, Fl. I have to enter Milton, Fl to get any Pace addresses to come up.

Now if I could just find the thread that tells me how to allow my "passenger" to enter gps destinations while driving. Does anyone have the link for that that they'd like to share?

I think I'm gonna go the cut Pin 17 wire route. When I start adding cameras later I can add the switch if I need to.

 

now you know the difference between a casual player and a gamer when your grandkids call themselves gamers and you don't get it.

Not in front of me but cut the wire coming out of pin 17 on the 28 pin connector at the rear of the Entune radio. It's a purple wire. Ensure you cover the ends with heat shrink, electrical tape, etc.

It's probably the easiest radio mode that I can think of.

If you still need a link, I'm sure someone here will chime in. If not, let me know and I'll look for it and post it when I have a chance.

 

The gage that is being put on the dashboards of fusion only shows a misfire when it happens and after a certain amount of engine revolutions (1.5k ? ) it goes back to 0 within seconds.
Under monitors , you can look at Mode$06 (on top of monitor screen in fusion), scroll over to Mode$06 and touch it . Then scroll thru what has a green check mark or a red X . Misfires should be a green check mark .
Mode$06 is only read and used while the truck is on or running .If you want to see the misfires including when starting the truck , turn the truck on without starting , connect the App Fusion to the truck , then start the truck and go for a drive. Before shutting the truck off (parked for safety )get to the mode$06 monitor and scroll down until you see the misfire data . It will show a total for the trip and totals for each cylinder all for the whole trip you were on .

JUST a NOTE for anyone who gets worried if the see misfires . Some are normal .
I hooked this Fusion up to my other vehicle and it also shows up to 6 or 8 misfires on a 7 mile trip just like my Tacoma. It is a 2015 GM with 42K on it and has no
problems and runs fine .
Edit , the Gm is totally stock .
