    No.

More like “here is the process and it is exactly how you’re going to do it, or seek employment elsewhere”.

lol, OK. So defects really are 'Normal vehicle characteristics' now because nothing non-conforming can get past Toyota Processes.

One facility is more automated and the other more hands on so the processes will differ slightly, if the finished products are equal it shouldn't really matter.

Yes, the detailed automated process will change by location, but the overall quality standard remains the same.

If a localized policy is the preferred, it will become the standard for that specific location.

Quality escapement happen, and are corrected when identified.

Any design flaw, is not a quality in manufacturing issue.

If you don’t like the product, don’t buy it.

    Sometimes corrections take time. Obviously.
I wasn't talking about any design flaws, perhaps process flaws.
I personally like the product but I don't consider Toyota's QMS infallible.
I'm not sure we are communicating effectively (likely my fault) so I will agree to disagree in part.

    Nothing is.

Human error can always play a factor, as well as material defects.

My piont is, I seriously doubt there are any real differences in quality, between the two Tacoma plants.

Any employee that willfully goes against established policies and procedures, will most likely be terminated.

Toyota and Honda build qualities cars/SUV/truck no matter where they are built. I had good luck with both US and Japan made Camrys. Had a few issues with Canada built Honda Odyssey but the issues were design issues and not the build quality. People of Mexico work hard and build quality cars and trucks for Toyota and other manufactures.

My Texas Tacoma is better than the Mexico truck I had. It’s also a MT instead of an auto so that might be most of it lol

There is zero difference. If there was, Toyota would have closed one or the other by now.

I'm sure there are slight differences in PPM like there would be between any two distinct facilities, especially if there are somewhat different assembly processes manual vs robotic. It could very well be the Mexico plant that shows slightly superior internal quality metrics. As there may be if there was also a Japanese facility still making pickups.

The speculation in this thread and others always cracks me up. Only Toyota knows the defect rate from their plants and I would imagine it is closely guarded.

It would be lovely to know if there is a material difference.

One thing is for sure, it’s still a roll of the dice on every truck they produce. You’d better be an astute observer on a long test drive if you think you’re gonna spot a problem in the first miles before you sign on the dotted line.

‘17 TRD Double Cab w/ 41k is a Mexican Taco w/ZERO issues. Love it. Only mod is DiamondbackHD bed cover. Once off lease plan to start building Overland rig.

Learned something new, I thought all Tacomas and Tundra were made in Tx.

I must admit that new car assembly fascinates me. I could watch YouTube videos on the subject all day long. The quality of a vehicle comes down to three areas in my book. The quality of parts received from vendors all over the world, quality control at the plant and the skill of the assembly line workers.

Toyota will be refining production efficiencies even further when the next generation Tacoma and hybrid Tundra arrive. They will be sharing the same platforms under the body. Think about it. What if every Toyota and Lexus built used the exact same power window motor? The economy of scale would be huge. Parts sharing on “under the skin” components is every manufacturers goal.
