Yep, was looking for one of them for the hot rod I had before the truck. A little weight never hurt my pocketbook that much.

Uh not sure. I guess we could be on 22.

Also Zach has reminded me of some little area where there could be some fishing. We could trek down there on Saturday if people wanted to. It’s about 20 minutes down from the campsite and we pass it on the way up. If I remember I’ll point it out in the way up

Thanks for reminding me to order some new flys, since I'm too lazy and not skilled enough to tie my own.

Stop by Unicoi outfitters in Helen on the way up if you have some time. Good local shop

I’ll keep that in mind. I’m no core fisherman. I keep a tenkara rod in the truck for when the moment presents itself. Or for when I can squeeze in a day hike/ride near water.

You have a good Tankara you recommend? I feel like the streams up in the mountains would be much easier handled with a tenkara mostly as I'm not very good casting my fly rod without catching a tree. Plus of course would be easier to store in the truck.

Exactly. I'm not a dedicated fisherman. Most of my fishing is the secondary part of why I'm in the woods. I've only attempted to true fly fish a couple times, and sucked at best. Eventually I intend to give it the time required to learn that craft, but for now the Tenkara fits my random fishing needs.

I use the Cascade rod from Tenkara Rod Co. I believe it is discontinued now, but its just a basic small rod that I feel is the perfect size for just the areas you describe. Now if you want to fish bigger waters you'll definitely want to step up to a larger rod.

Check this thread out if you haven't already. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fly-fishing-bs-thread.246222/page-311

Would love to fly fish with you gents sometime. My buddy and I used to go a lot before having kids. Usually fish the Chattooga River. It’s alot more open for casting and all. Smith creek at Unicoi state park has a lot of tenkara rod peeps. My dad has one and Ive tried it a few times but feel more comfortable with my fly rod. Love the concept of tenkara though.
