If you are looking for performance gains, then IMO, they are not worth it.

Thanks. Was thinking maybe it will help with the throttle response a bit as well. Im a bit paranoid about installing pedal commander. Thoughts?

I have not used Pedal Commander in the past but I'm sure others will chime in about their experience.

I use the pedal commander and am very pleased with it's performance it has insane acceleration, I highly recommend it. You have to be careful how you use it.
I also installed the TRD Pro CAI and the TRD Pro catback exhaust and love the sound of the exhaust and engine growl.

Looks sexy man. So did you actually feel a bit of power increase without the pedal commander? The reason im skeptical is cuz i read some tacoma owners had bad experience with pedal commander. They said they had a bunch of lights come up in the dash and truck ran like crap after few months of using it. Would be really nice to have more throttle response with my manual tho. My ranger was a cable and was instant response, quite nice.

That was my next question. So you dont hear anything on the highway? I really like how the cabin is nice and quiet on the highway now.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Mat of OVT note an intake and exhaust would work well with the tune? I don't recall exactly.

I plan on eventually installing an intake and exhaust on my taco, currently I'm also favoring the TRD ones myself

A pedal commander doesn't work by increasing power like tuning the ECU does. It overrides the stock throttle input to get quicker throttle response. https://carpassionate.com/pedal-commander-review/

If you are looking for more actual power with better throttle response then I would suggest taking a deep reading dive into the OV Tune thread to see if its something you might be intrested in. I flashed my truck to the 93 performance tune yesterday and I feel like i'm driving a sports car again. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-toyota-tacoma-v6-ecu-tuning-alpha-release.495735/

There are arguably better and cheaper intakes and exhaust than TRD, but if you are looking to keep it close to stock then it is exactly what you are looking for. Intakes and exhaust are really just about sound and looks on most modern vehicles. The stock intake on these trucks is actually a cold air intake to begin with so don't get oversold on a product advertising CAI as a feature. I'm also pretty sure the stock filter box on this truck is bigger than the stock filter box that was on my old 6.0L LS2 GTO. If an exhaust is too free flowing then you are losing bottom end power while not gaining much at the top because the ECU isn't really tuned to take advantage of it. Had/have the exhaust on my previous and current truck and it's just enough sound to let me know its there but not enough to be annoying to myself/passengers/neighborhood.

It's quiet almost all the time, unless my foot pushes the go fast pedal to the carpet.

Thank you, Serge! I felt an increase in HP since the TRD Pro CAI comes with a K&N type filter, this setup allows more cold air to the engine intake and thus more power. The exhaust made a difference as well since the OEM exhaust back pressure has been eliminated with the free flowing TRD Pro exhaust, based on empirical data there should be some HP gain with this setup, however, there's Dino data available.

I installed the Pedal Commander about ten months ago with no issues what so ever, except the pleasure of having an exceptional throttle response. Please note that we have opposing forces in our forum that try to steer you elsewhere. I considered the OV Tune however, the cost was very prohibitive as well as having to run premium gasoline with it, my philosophy is a truck should run on regular gas, however, the premium gas is reserved for my BMWs.

    Good luck with your selection!
