Nawh, a scoop only gives you 5 HP. Now a snorkel gives you 75 HP.

My buddy’s ecoboost V6 F150 smokes my Tacoma in power and fuel economy. It’s much bigger which I’m not a huge fan of, but the rest hurts my feelings.

If you want more power, you can trade in for a MT Tacoma and simulate more power. No other options currently they offer substantial power gains. OVTune ain’t it, but it’s great at what it does. Or you could regear, which I feel is always better because mechanical > software.

These are estimates until he does a dyno run this weekend, he’s usually pretty spot on with his estimates though

Why exactly one would need more HP on Tacoma? On a sports car I could understand, but Taco with almost 300hp, still need more?

300 horsepower really isn’t much, but our tacos make 278 from a V6 but other companies are making 300+ with a 4 cylinder :notsure:

A DIT 4cyl running high boost and compression. Significantly different than what's under our hood.

Our V6s have a relatively high compression ratio of 11.8:1. And with forced induction you don’t want a very high compression ratio

Also, Chevy put a naturally aslirated 4 banger in the camaro making 275 hp, porche is using NA 4 cylinder engines in some newer cars making 300+ hp. 278 hp out of our trucks isn’t much especially when you see that most of that power is made above 4K rpm. How many times do you take your truck that high in pm?

End of day, the only HP gains you'll see are with OVTune. You can roll the dice on an off the shelf tune that's got great reviews and check what tunes offer what gains. Nothing else is going to offer anything over placebo effect gains (like a CAI + exhaust sound making you think you're going faster..).

Yeah, and those DIT engines are running 10:1~ (Golf R, WRX, etc) with a turbo. The turbo adds compression on top of that, putting it well above 11.8:1.
