3" lift with new tires, wheel spacers, blacked out decals, and TRD pro grill.
So ive been doing some extensive research and figured id put up a post to confirm what I am seeing. I have a 2018 SR5 Tacoma with a 3" lift on the front and 2" on the back. I have the tires to put on my truck but want to order new wheels and I am not sure which offset to get. From what Im seeing most are saying to run a 16x8 rim with a 0mm offset and over a 2.5" lift which should have no rubbing whatsoever. If anyone has done this or if this is wrong that is what I need to know. Thanks!

Also I was told that 16 inch aftermarket wheels might rub on the caliper? is this true?

That is exactly the set up I’m running but my wheels haven’t come in yet. I still have my stock wheels on and yes they rub on the control arm when I turn sharply with 285/75/16 STT PRO’s. The wheels I ordered under advice from my tire guy are 16x8 0mm offset. According to him they will be the perfect for my 2019 Taco.

This is possible. My 16 inch fuel wheels were not able to use standard stick on balancing weights. Had to use the clamp on style. The tire shop first used stick ins and as soon as I pulled out I heard them hit the caliper and said, shit, something isn’t right. Took it back the next day and figured out they hit the calipers. This will depend on a wheel to wheel basis. Some 16s may fit fine but mine can’t use stick on weights.

I have 16x8 Level 8 MK6 wheels, 0 offset. It has about 1mm clearance from the calipers with 1/4 oz stick on weights.

Just so you know, 17" is the way to go now. Some of the tire options I see are E load in 16's and C load in 17's. Some manufacturers doesn't even offer some tires in 16's.

If I was to get new wheels, they would be 17's and preferably lighter than the 23.5 lbs my 16's are.

I’ve been wondering about offset myself. I’d like to not have to get new wheels and I’m running a -6 offset and I haven’t been able to find how those would react.

As for your caliper question, a lot of 16’s don’t fit current gen Tacoma’s. It was a trial an error process for me when I got my 265’s I’m currently running.

    I'm running 285 70 17.
    0mm offset

And I rubbed body Mount a lot

If you really want to do 285, you should be prepared and ready to cut if needed

    Otherwise stay at 265 75 16

I have 2.5 inch lift all around with a CMC. I have 16x8 -12 offset and only rub plastic when turning and stuffing the front wheels at the same time. Normal pavement driving no rubbing.

So you have the 285s on already? Does it look like they will rub anywhere else when you put the wheels on?

Yes I have them on now. No, they do not appear to rub anywhere but the control arm on hard turns.

16x8 at zero has 4.5" backspacing. Should get you off the UCA's.

I have the same tires. They rubbed on the UCA on stock wheels. I got a set of TRD Pro wheels and it solved the problem. So, whatever the offset is on those.

Nice then that makes me feel a lot more comfortable, I wanted to go that way but i did not want to do a CMC. So it concerned me because some were saying id have to.

Lift height was 3". Weight of gear brought it down to around 2 1/4". It doesn't rub anywhere now. It was only rubbing at full right turn on stock wheels

I’m running a 16x8 with -12 offset and 35s no rub on UCA

The “no rubbing whatsoever” is highly debated and no one has provided sufficient proof of it.

Some work will be needed to make them fit. It’s more of a question of how much work.

Do you rub anywhere else or did you do any cutting? And what lift do you run?
