Thoughts on temporary spacer lifts

So I’m going to start by saying I know spacer and blocks aren’t ideal, that’s a given. It was my original intent to do a full suspension system to achieve my 3” lift but situations have risen that I need to wait.

That being said, I still want to get a little more clearance while I wait. I wanted to ask you guys about just doing a 2.25” pro comp spacer in the front and toytech 1” block in the rear. I do trails once in a while but I know the limitations of that kind of lift so in no way would be doing rock climbing, just simple out and back camping trips.

Thoughts?

 

Run it, in the end you might decide that’s all you need and save all that money.

I had Kings on my truck up until a few months ago when I took them off to rebuild, replaced them with stock suspension and a block lift.

Still running the block haha, might not be as smooth and nice riding but it does fine.

 

Go ahead and do the spacer lift, you appear to have weighed the pros and cons of the spacer lift already.

One question still is why go pro comp and toytec block? A block of metal is a block of metal. Go budget friendly

Well pro comp was just the spacer I found that was 2.25”. The rest are usually like 3” and I don’t want to save money with a spacer kit and have to get ucas. Is there really no quality difference between brands?

Well my delay will probably be around a year or so. I don’t mind paying the 150 or so for install in the mean time.

 

if you're trying to get a lift but getting spacers to save money, it makes no sense to go then pay someone to install it for you. For the price you pay for the spacers and installation you can just get 5100s and install them yourself.

 

Well with the 5100’s the most lift I can get with stock coils is about 1.55” and rear 5100’s won’t add any lift without leafs. To get what I’m aiming for with spacers with 5100’s I’d have to add ome coils and a leaf spring pack and that would bring it up to around 700 cost.

 

$250 with alignment? Your money Mind you it's just 4 tanks of gas... I've spent more in 20 minutes at a shooting range.

 

then go with 2" front leveling and 1" rear block for less than 100 and try to do it yourself. That's my advice. Paying for blocks/spacers and then paying someone else to install a spacer lift and then having to buy new suspension and pay again for installation later on is just a waste. Doesn't sound financially smart to me.

Super tight budget but really want a lift for pavement princess: 100 bucks or less for spacers, can even find them used on craigslist, fb marketplace, offerup, letgo for even cheaper. It's a block of metal, miles/color/shinyness don't matter. Just use new u bolts.

edit: 35 bucks for front 2.5" leveling spacers. You can find blocks for about the same. So all in all you can get your 2.5" front/1" rear for about 70-80 bucks and install it yourself. Then take it over to Universal Technical Institute in Rancho Cucamonga to get it aligned for free by mechanic students practicing alignments.

That is the cheapest option. Like bare bones cheapest option to get what you want.

 

I need to get an alignment done right now regardless of if I do a lift or not. During service the tech said it was off a bit. I was just going to find a groupon deal around me to get it done.

Yes. Because unless you space out your bump stops, your shock is now going to bottom out before bumps.

And if you do limit uptravel, well, then you don’t have much travel left at all. Perfect for fire roads though like you pictured.
