I have one along with a tornado in my intake and I'm now getting 40mpg and ran the quarter in 12 flat.

Throttle response is part of of the ECU programming. The Tacoma gas pedal is just an electronic “fly-by-wire” input to the ECU. Toyota has given us a languid throttle to keeps MPGs up. Some performance-minded folks went with the Pedal Commander, and some with OV Tune, and others just push the ECT button to get a zippier throttle. After two years of driving this truck, my foot has just adapted and the truck does what I want when I want it to. I actually like driving the thing, but it took some learning on my part.

The important part is it is not a physical problem with the intake that’s holding you back, it is just the choices Toyota made in regards to the throttle response programming.

+ 10 clever yet proper use of “Languid” while describing a Tacoma.
