Just installed the TBS today and my initial results are as follows:

1.) Noticable increase in low-end throttle response.
2.) Slightly smoother shifting in high rpms
3.) Slight "whistle" noise when romping on the throttle similar to a turbo spool but not nearly as cool.
4.) Little to no horsepower or torque increase. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But you know what? That's pretty much what I was hoping for. Between this and the TRD intake accelerator, a K&N filter, and this throttle body spacer I am confident that this engine is getting all the air it needs. Plus it still looks stock which is something I was kind of going for.

To each their own. No offense, but I’d put money this is a placebo effect.

    How thick is the spacer?

None taken, it very well could be. I probably should have driven my truck some more after getting it back from the dealer to establish a baseline, but I haven't had it for 5-6 weeks and couldn't wait to put some of the parts I had ordered on. Exhaust goes on tonight!

    Number 3 is a leak.

Benefits on a multiport fuel injection and/or direct injection are pretty much non-existent and I'd chalk up what you're reporting to be placebo.

Technically adding additional volume to the intake manifold can provide a minor improvement to the performance to direct injection engines, but it's really minor for naturally aspirated engines.

Torqued down to 89 foot pounds and it uses a gasket. I seriously doubt the air pressure generated is enough for a leak.

It's not pressure it's suction and the leak may be elsewhere when putting back. It doesn't whistle by extending the length...whistles due to a leak.

    LOLOLOL

everything you did is waste your money on a 100% placebo effect.

    1. The trumpet horn on the front of the air box and any minimal effect on air flow it has is completely negated by the fact that the air hits the filter disrupting airflow yet again.

    2. like stated throttle body spacers haven't been effective on ANYTHING since the mid 90's when throttle body injection was a thing.

The only way to get any change of power / torque curve is to increase or decrease intake runner lengths. An intake manifold spacer, put between the upper and lower intake manifold (to increase intake runner length)can do just this and shift torque curves down lower. But even they are minimal gains.

Also lastly... go back to the stock air filter if you like clean air into your motor... those K&N air filters might flow amazing.... but they filter like shit.

Still way cheaper than the TRD Pro intake and they include that in the kit.

I find this funny, the throttle body spacer has been an argument in every forum I've ever been in. But in the end, none of those clowns have ever gotten one and taken it to a dyno and seen what it does. So truly no one can give and educated answer. What ever happen to just supporting members that modify their trucks and keeping stuff positive.

    Good luck my friend..!

Problem is the TRD really is just gimmiky badging. On everything they make, other than the now defunct S/C.

There isn't a thing that has a TRD sticker on it that was developed from racing.

But if you like it, it's all that matters.

Other than the K&N filter. Which is more harm than good in any street vehicle and certainly any off road vehicle.

I put it on not expecting to get HP gains or anything like that. I was just hoping for the promised throttle response change. From what I'm seeing it is a net gain in that department, but I haven't had it long enough to be sure.

LOL.... its all 100% placebo. Give me the keys to your truck, ill give you a week windows, and one day without you knowing what day i do it ill remove the spacer, and ill bet money you 1, cant tell the difference, or 2. say i removed it when i actually havent.

Throttle response would come from tuning and speed of the fly by wire throttle body, neither of which changed from that spacer. Hell. id even bet more money that long term fuel trims didnt change one bit.

You seem to be very sure about your opinion. Do you have any test results to back it up?
