    What kind of tubing would you recommend for a self made rack to fit over the soft topper? I would think some 1x2 and or some 1x3 rectangular tubing would work well, mix in some 80/20 material and call it good.

    Thoughts?

    Either one will work depending on what wall thickness and bracing. I would use 11ga or 3/16" depending on weight load you plan to carry. I order and pick up all my steel from this place. You can use there site for schedule and weights of rec tubing.

    I am assuming you want to stay with the structural tubing cause you can fab with it in your shop. I can bend round tubing for you with whatever cl's you want.

    Ok thanks will look at the site and decide.

    Yes structural so that I can just cut my angles etc easier and then just tack them in place so that I can build it up. It will not be built to support an RTT but would like to match the height of my current roof rack and maybe be able to add Rotopax at a later date
