2017 SR5. I’m game for testing and or purchasing once the in-line adapter is available.

@Kyleinator, to be sure I plan my project properly, you mic adapter will be located behind the aftermarket headunit, correct? How many wires need to be tapped/cut?

I am hoping your adapter will be available soon. Most of my hardware is ready to go for a spring project (new headunit, remote starter, seat heaters, bed lights, trailer lights, garage opener ... etc) on my 2013 Tacoma (non-JBL).

So is this whole thing dead? I need to start planning for the next best alternative.

    Where you want to be
Same boat. I was hoping for something sooner than now so I wouldn't to tear the dash apart twice..

Sadly, this does appear to be dead. I wish the circuit used was made available (or Kyleinator would come back!). I have my dash pulled apart as I can't wait any longer to start my project.

Has anyone come up with alternate solutions?

head unit replacement to Kenwood DMX905S
Good morning. Long lurker, but just ran across this thread so had to subscribe. I am a US Marine veteran with a background in aviation electronics. I have deep working knowledge and many years of experience on using both multimeters and o-scopes. I own a 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road. This past weekend, I have replaced the stock Entune Premium (non-JBL) with a Kenwood DMX905S, using stock harness and stock speakers (without any extra aftermarket amps installed). I would be more than willing and able to help with beta testing if you'd like. I wouldn't be able to come to southern Cali, since I live in Alabama, but as stated earlier, I have working knowledge and have both tools available to scope out the wiring harness. If you'd like, please PM me and we can schedule up a time to either chat or call one another to get a better understanding of what you're looking for.

I'm not a 100 percent sure but I've been following this thread for a while; it's been a while since OP has been on the forum and posted, pretty sure this might be a dead subject to them.

If you want to retain the factory location, you can do what this guy did and buy this mic

I'm still waiting to see how it goes before I jump on the after market mc

Aw, snap..... That's what I get for reading a few posts, getting excited, then responding without reading every single other post.... Thanks, @Taco_Coma, for the link. I'll be looking and lurking a bit more.

The adapter from @WickedAx works. He's working on the adapters for the 2020 and up to 3rd gen because the wiring is different from the 2016-19 3rd gens.
