The snow has been really mild here lately for the last 10 years or so. You really have very little to worry about unless your going remote places. Most cities will plow the roads really quickly, specially on the weekdays. I think we had 3 snow storms even worth mentioning last year, and even calling them storms is a bit of a stretch. You'll be just fine, specially if you have any of those fancy buttons on the 2nd gens. Utah really used to have some decent winters back in the day, so all the cities are still really prepared for it and try to take care of roads and such quickly since with the Great Salt Lake and Utah Lake surrounding the valley, we can get some good lake-effect action going on once in a while.

I was there from 1999-2002 before going to Minot, talk about extremes!

I agree mostly with this, usually the mornings are the worst, especially on the freeway but by noon the state has the roads pretty well managed, its the first few hours that are a little dicey.

I might take a ribbing for this (cough cough) but as bad as Cali drivers are, Utah drivers can be worse, especially in snow. Growing up in Denver most of the time everyone had the concept of ice mastered, here Ive gotten where I try to avoid I-15 when its got fresh snow....thats just me

Depending on your situation, are you living on base, dorms, etc... you may not even notice.

Sounds good then, I am looking for a home in the Layton area, so its not that far to the base, and if worst case scenario pops up i also own a Z71 Tahoe who's 4x4 has been tested many times and will serve me as a backup.

I agree. Usually it takes a few snow storms for people to get their snow legs, so to speak. Pretty sure its that way just about everywhere though. Until then, people want to drive like they would on a clear, dry day.

But you also have to remember that as bad as you think Utah drivers are, quite a bit of them are from Cali originally. :p

KSL has a new AllPro 1st gen rear tube bumper for a pretty good discount if anyone is looking for one. $300 painted (All Pro lists unpainted for $380 + $100 shipping, so a pretty good discount). He'll even install it for you for some extra cash if you dont have the means.

    http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=11945668&cat=&lpid=

btw, I'm going to post up my old plastic bed liner for free on KSL within the next few days, so if anyone wants it, let me know before I do. Sick of looking at it...
