I always keep my 2018 V6 in "S" mode with the ECT on, makes the shift points better and more fun to drive. Will installing Shift Sense Pro make the shift points any better than what I'm currently doing? I know it keeps each gear in a higher RPM before shifting up so you have more kick, but the ECT does the same.. so is it worth the $179?

So I have a Shift Sense Pro (got used here on TW).

    I love it.
I’m using position 2, and the shift points are perfect.
My truck has bigger wheels so the improvement is I think even better than over stock.

Frankly cheap money for a well engineered easy to use product that is easy to remove.

The TSB will not satisfy. Your only real choices that I'm aware of are the OVTune or the Shift Sense Pro. I use the shift sense and am pretty happy with it. The reason I chose the SSP over the OVTune is that my Taco is a lease. Also, the SSP was considerably cheaper. I'm sure the OVTune would be better in every aspect but it's also quite a bit more expensive.

How hard was the install? Does the box stick out a lot? I saw the picture and it looked like a huge box that has to be mounted in sight?

Not hard at all. The hardest part was lifting the center console, and that's just because I was scared of breaking something the first time. The SSP box is pretty unobtrusive. I stick it behind the plastic near the gas pedal. You wouldn't see it unless you were actually looking for it.

I think if you can pick up the SSP used, then it's worth it for sure. I'm on 33's and did the TSB and it made a considerable difference.
