I even had a clamp on it so someone couldn't just walk away with it. Does anyone know of a good source for a replacement (White)? Damn also need to replace the diamond plate panel. Is there a better way to lock these so this doesn't happen again?

    Thanks,
    Jason

That was one of my questions. Is there a way to lock these besides using a clamp like I had on it. What are you using?

    Thanks

Get a pop and lock from Amazon. You’ll have to run wires to tie it into your door locks but worth the work. I think they might have one that just replaces your tailgate handle with a keyed one as well.

Thanks, I'll be checking those out. Such a bummer. I'll be keeping an eye on Craigslist for my tailgate for sure.

My clamp has been on for years now. Wonder if it's rusted out? I should go check it.

Sorry to hear about your tailgate. At least you have the easiest color to find. There's lots of white new take off tailgates around.

buy any tailgate you can find and rattle can paint it yourself Super White, since super white is a one stage paint the clearcoat is already mixed in the paint so u wont need a clear spray over it

Unfortunately Tailgates are a hot item for thieves as there is a huge black market for them . Most are sold to body shops as a tailgate is damaged easily and used tailgates are cheaper than newer for body shops

Another reason is some newer ones from other mfgs have cameras and other sensors built into them making those tail gates a high dollar item

Thanks guys, this happened in Garden Grove, CA. I'm amazed that the police actually took DNA swabs to run through the database.

I'm going to look for a tailgate locally but I appreciate your help.

OP ... I would also contact local Junkyards to see if someone sold them your tailgate . As I mentioned body shops buy repair parts from here !!

at the high cost of those tailgates with all necessary hardware wouldn't be better to go thru your car insurance? even if you have $500 deductible in the end I don't think you can get a better deal on the whole tailgate youll need anywhere

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the junkyards too.

I'm looking for used tailgates locally since like you said it will be a lot cheaper. I think my deductible is 1k but I have to check. I was just looking into upgrading suspension too. Oh well, I just have to get over it. They didn't steal my jack and they didn't damage anything else.
