Interesting hearing some of people’s issues with the tip-in of performance tunes. I consider myself somewhat of a heavy foot.

When I first flashed it seemed aggressive, but after clearing values in techstream it was very smooth and manageable. Maybe clearing values adjusts how the tip-in is interpreted by the ECU?

Wish there was a way to know. I couldn't stand the "tip in" of the performance tune so went back to base.

Probably the best reason for Mat to NOT do this.

Not for me. Clear values every time, but as I've mentioned before the tip-in on both 87 and 91 Performance is just too much for my liking when driving in heavy traffic or off-roading.

Definitely seems like heavier, lifted, and/or bigger tire trucks work with the tip-in better. Heavy Portland traffic was not that bad at all when I drove it as my daily

How different do 87 perf and 93/91 perf feel in regular driving ?

I'm just wondering if the power difference is across all rpms or is it just at the higher end like 5-7krpm or WOT?

Unless you are WOT, in most acceleration scenarios, the truck seems to accelerate mostly around 3-5k rpm and I know that 87 perf had big gains in that range, so I'm wondering higher octane tunes has a noticeable performance increase in that range.

@OVTune, does this mean we will see the shudder fix at the end of summer or sometime sooner?

I started of with 87 performance. I'm almost at 200 miles and I'm really liking it. I'll probably stay here for awhile.

How is every one calculating how many misfires and know % of load on the truck at a given gear?

I’ve read through a large portion of this thread and just purchased the tune. My question is, that here in Georgia most of the mid grade gas around here is 89 octane. Is there a time for that? Or should I just go with the 87 tune?

You'll have to settle for 87, 91, or 93. There is currently not an 89 octane tune and Mat mentioned at one time there would not be one in the future.

Try the 87 tune first with that gas it should run nicely

You find a number you like and pick that one.

No need to search for a problem unless you are experiencing one

Alright, 90 mile trip, plus 10 off road in 4lo on 1.05 87 performance.

First off, to get to where I am is a pretty ridiculous elevation change. I’m currently camping, roughly 800 lbs of BS, 33’s, 4.88’s and 6” lift with bed racks (if we wanna consider the drag factor). She pulled in 4th gear up steep, long hills around 3200-3300 rpm, and 5th when it tapered. 6th gear on flats. I thought that was very impressive, considering the weight and elevation change from ocean level to roughly 8,000.

    Tip in:

I’m used to this. Feels like driving a fire engine lol.
    Even in 4lo, very tolerable.

I understand the tune is still settling in, but going from 87 base to 87 performance, there’s a difference.

If you’re lifted, heavier tires, and carry weight, performance tune is a must.

Now, excuse me as I enjoy my cold beer, and relax after working 200+ hrs the past two weeks

If you’re reading this and still on the fence of buying the OVTune, just do it.
