Great looking grille and Toyota emblem! I was wondering what tool you used to remove the material in the middle of the O's and the A. The A in particular looks like it would be very difficult.

Thank You

For The Letter “O”, I Drilled an 1/8” Hole Dead Center
Then Opened It Up With a UniBit (Step Bit), as Large as Possible.
Finally, a Dremel With a Small Sanding Drum and a Small Rat Tail File for Finishing.
Ran Some Sand Paper Around the Interior to Smooth for Paint.

For the Letter “A”, I Drilled Three 1/16” Holes Near Each Point.
Cut Between the Holes (Carefully) With a Utility Knife.
Then I Filed to the Points with a Small Wedge Shaped Jeweler's File I Had.

None of It Was to Tuff, Just Time Consuming (the alternative to screwin’ it up).
I Think The Finished Product Was Worth The Effort, Though Few See It Up Close.
Give It a Shot and Post the Pics When Done. We’d Like to See ‘em.

I am seriously considering attempting this emblem. What tool did you use to cut out the letters? Thanks for the help!

 

It's Lookin' Good!
I Color Matched the Recessed Grill Surround You've Finished Patching.
Even Matched the Triangle Recess and Meshed 'em
I Think It Really Completes the Grill, Seein' the TRD Sport is all Color Matched. (Picture Below)
The Emblem: AFTER Filling the Back With Epoxy and
AFTER Positioning and Taping It to the Grill to Mark the Screw Holes.
I Cut the Letter Apart With a Hacksaw, Then Used a Dremel with Sanding Drum.
After Getting Close to the Edge of Each Letter, I Used a Coarse Flat File, to Finish,
Keeping the Same Bevel, All the Way Around Each Letter.
Then Sand It for Paint. Little Bit of Utility Knife When Needed.

Back to the Letter "A" From My Last Post:
You Can Probably Take Out Most or All the Interior With The Utility Knife
and Some Folded Sand Paper If You Don't Have the Jeweler's or a Small Wedge Shaped File

Also, If You Didn't See It In One Of My Previous Posts.
Don't Used a Brush to Color Match the Emblem Outline (Rabbit).
Take the Time to Tape and Spray It (Unless You Do Something Like Freehand Pin Striping for a Living)
And If You Color Match Just the Outline, Being Dark, You Won't See It From 50' Away.
My Outline is Silver, and is Barely Visible from 50'-75', Unless the Sun's On It. See Pics Below

Wow, another great reply! I'm off tomorrow to get my grille color matched. I thought about meshing the triangles but I used a grillcraft grille for the satoshi and the only way I'd be able to match the mesh is if I bought another one and cannibalized it. Thats a little bit more than I want to spend right now.

I've already 'expoxy'd' the back of the TOYOTA emblem. I still haven't figured out how I want to paint the emblem. I really like how you painted just the outline of the TOYOTA but I think it wouldn't show up as well with the darker magnetic grey. I may end up painting the entire emblem mag grey, unless anyone else has a suggestion.
