This is my first post here. I've got a 2011 TRD OR, with the JBL stereo system. I've installed my share of car stereo in the past, but this one has a handful of extra factors, so I want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff. I have the following criteria I'd like to satisfy.

-Double Din (don't care to have touch screen , or apple/Android.

    -Keep steering wheel controls

    -Keep JBL speakers/amp...for now.

-Rear USB so I can run it to either the armrest pocket, or maybe a switch blank next to the A-Trac and aux panel.

-last but not least, I want to keep the factory microphone, if that's possible.

Here's the parts I've figured out that I'll need. Please let me know if this will work, and if there are better options!! Thanks.

Kenwood DPX-793BH(I would prefer the non-excelon unit without a CD player, because money, and I don't need the CD drive, but this is the only unit with rear usb)-

    Dash kit - Scosche TA2053B

    Steering wheel controls adapter

    And....the JBL adapter

Good on the Scosche kit, make sure you keep the little yellow clips on your factory dash face, you'll need them with the Scosche kit. Your head will sit perpendicular to the ground so it won't follow the contour of the dash kit face, but it is better this way for glare.

I used the Metra-Axxess ASWC-1 for the steering controls and it works great, I can't speak for the factory microphone though.

I also used the Scosche TA02B harness for an easy install.

    Good luck with the upgrade!

Do all the buttons function on your steering wheel? I've seen some say they do, and some say they dont. There was also a PAC unit, for like $25. Not sure if either is better or worse though.

The volume, the track change (arrows), and the "mode" all work perfect. The "mode" switches between radio, aux, usb, etc. If I recall correct the ASWC-1 auto programed itself into my tacoma, all I did was get the harness right and it works. I remember the instructions did throw me off a bit, but if you have done a few stereos in the past you will be fine. If you use the ASWC-1 and run into any trouble I'll pull out my head and tell you how mine is hooked up.

It has worked perfect, even after disconnecting the battery. It just works, but again, I don't have factory hands-free calling.

Cool, thank you, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has the calling buttons on the right. Not a big deal, if it doesn't twork, I'd probably just try to get the blank panel from a vehicle without the calling option.

I've had the Scosche kit installed for a year now, and it is the better kit since you get to reuse the OEM radio mount brackets and OEM tab inserts (don't give away that OEM radio), however its fitment still isn't perfect. Make sure to buy some Tesa tape, and mimic/copy the tape placement that Toyota uses on the OEM radio around the inner surfaces. This will cut down or eliminate some of the persistent rattling that will occur with the Scosche kit while driving.

Why do you say not to get rid of the OEM stereo??

The Scosche kit requires you to re-use the plastic yellow tab inserts from the OEM radio/trim. The tabs are what holds the scosche trim in place.
