Ok not specifically Tacoma, but somewhat related ...

After getting a call from my stranded son, headed out of work an hour early. BLUF, dead battery and alternator. Oh FML. Well, my truck, my problem, til I sign it over to him. There went 300. Took about 2 hours, luckily it stranded him at work.... Oreilly.

Got home, washed up (because of course this happened in the rain) and settled down. Went to make the battery cables for my truck, found my solder pot dead. Brand new, too. Took it apart and found some piss poor solder joints and a blown fuse. Of course a kind of fuse I don't stock. Wired around that for testing, reflowed the joints, all good to go. Which brings us to now.. after midnight and I just realized I haven't eaten since lunch, nor taken my meds. That in itself is kind of an indicator of how crazy things got after work.

Can't say I've encountered that. Just air constantly dumping out my diff breather and the sweet aroma of gear oil piercing the air.

This makes me worried to install it as I just installed my 2002 tundra rear onto the truck. Also because I dont trust the rear I installed and dont want to blow the locker up when I install it. I only put 10k on my truck every 2 or 3 years. The truck isnt a dd it's my weekend trail truck when invited on trips which is rare.

Edit: I also have never done gear work so it scares me.

Installed my aux transmission cooler this past weekend. Installed it after the stock cooler in the radiator so it goes out of trans, to radiator, to aux cooler then back to trans. Super easy to install, just had to buy some extra 3/8 id trans fluid hose. This is the cooler I got for those interested: https://www.amazon.com/Long-Tru-Cool-Transmission-Cooler-4454/dp/B005XZXB1M

Temps were around 180-200 around town before the cooler, now I'm seeing 150-160.

I mean if you didn't touch the gears in the tundra axle you're fine.

If you did, doesn't matter as you'll have to again if you put a locker in it. We are talking adjustments in the .001'' area. The locker replaces the whole carrier and its not exactly the same as the stock one..hell no two probably match from the factory either.

You'll probably be fine. I haven't heard of many experiences similar to mine. My truck has one of those needy girlfriend personalities, always needs some sort of attention.

That's how my truck is but my lady is the same way. My truck gets 10k a year if that and when I drive it ots always a big ticket item. My lady wants a 4runner I told her I'd get her a 3rd gen and I was told no

think there is a magic line that gets crossed for all of these trucks.

    At first its like..

"Wow trucks are so cool, I want to go offroading and explore cool places! Here truck! Take all my money for NEW PARTS!"

    upload_2019-4-9_23-21-36.jpg

Truck is like "OMG so many fancy pretty things. He really loves me!"

Eventually your "done" and just want to drive it and enjoy it.

"Ahh let just go for a drive, give me more wonderful experiences!"

Truck is like: "Give give give thats all I do. I miss spending alone time with just you and me getting intimate in the garage. So....fuck you Im through a lower ball joint"

    "FFFFFFUUUUUCCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!"

punches wall, kicks garbage can, yells new curse words in a language only demons understand...

Truck:......."see isn't this nice? just you and me in the garage :)"

    upload_2019-4-9_23-18-57.jpg

So you're left just fixing your truck most the time. Your house hates you for abusing it and the garbage can left you for a better home.

Yes I did. Hate the stock bushings design and liked how it pushed the wheel forward. Definitely expensive. So far I like them. Time will tell if it was really worth it. Definitely not for everyone I think

I bet, luckily it’s not a daily driver. The weight difference will be significant. My current tires weigh 42 lbs. these weigh 62 lbs. according to the FedEx shipping label.

Swapped ac compressor over the weekend. Had a quote for 1100 from local shop and decided to do it myself. I have a brother who works on vehicles so we did it together .Total parts cost $383. And that's also new o rings, drier, expansion valve, and charged. Also new coolant as we removed the radiator to get compressor out and decided to go new instead of reuse old coolant.
