As a person well versed in lifting these trucks! (I have extensive write up's on lifts and other things in the 2nd gen section)

A drop bracket is much better off roading then a 3" lift! Allows taller tires with less cutting. (Increase left to right center clearance!)

Raises the truck higher so front to rear has better clearance!
Keeps stock geometry so you have better wheel articulation!
Offroarding with a 3" lift is like hiking in high heels! (Very Limited down travel of the suspension is left after the lift) More prone to wheel lift off then a DB drop kit. (Basic geometry!)

Only negative is cutting the cross member. But the manufactures of the kits take that into account and give you a way stronger cross member!
Stay away from Fabtech! They are O.K. but they do not drop the front diff as much as BDS or Procomp. to maintain a good CV angle you want the better angles.
And yes it can fit 37's! But you may need to do the BMC, and hammer back the pinch welds so you can stuff the tires!

Also remember the higher you go your CG will increase so wheel accordingly!

    Good luck!

Ha. I was going to link either this or 90yotas thread but saw how old it was.

37’s are old. They fit easy. New hotness is 40’s. I’d start there.

I'm already having to shave the shark fin if I want to go 37s. It almost rubs the garage seal as it sits today.

Although...I could just buy a new house with a taller garage? That's IT!

Just cut a little slot for the fin!

Or tear the house down and build a bigger garage door. That sounds like the tw way!

I wasn't quite at that level, but I was definitely aiming for it on 33s back in 1997...

Have any of you replaced the coils on the fox 2.5 coil overs? Looking to get a heavier coil or spring because I feel like it rides like shiz in the front. Pls help or send a link for the right coil that’s heavier to replace the current coils on the front or give me some options to help the front not ride as crappy

Fox uses Eibach coils. Call fox and ask their recommendation. Prob a 14" 700# coil would suit you best

Heavier coils will be less preload to hold the weight on the front end. If you dont have bumper, winch, or skid plates, you will have a much stiffer ride

I have a pro skid plate cut in half, a lil bs fabrication front bumper but no winch as of now. So you recommend I get heavier springs based off this tho like would it actually be worth my time and effort etc?

    1. How heavy is your bumper?

    2. How much preload do you have on your current springs?

    3. What is it that you consider riding like shiz? Be detailed in explanation.

My front bumper is 110 pounds
As for preload I’m not sure, we cranked it maybe 8 turns on both sides cause we were tryna get 7” of lift cause the rear was higher than the front. The measurement is from the top to the collar (as seen in photo) so I’m not sure if you can tell how much preload that is.
As for ride quality is just feels stiff in the front for some reason and I’m not sure if it’s because of preload or what but I feel like it should be riding way better than what it is and especially paying that price point

Ok, looks like you have it cranked a bunch, but preload is measured differently on different manufactures. I think fox uses the total spring compression. With wheels off the ground taking weight off springs, measure total spring height. Max is 2" preload give or take .25" . So if you have a 14" spring, max preload should be 12".

Max preload on the 16" 600lb spring is 3". At full droop, you don't want to compress spring more than 13" in total length. AccuTune Off-road can help you out, great customer service and they know their stuff.
